Meeting/Event Director directs the overall planning and strategy for live or virtual meetings and events for an organization. Defines the goals, success metrics, and messaging for events. Being a Meeting/Event Director implements best practices and develops planning standards, policies. and procedures. Additionally, Meeting/Event Director develops a network of vendors. Approves the final selection of venues, catering, technology, and other event support services. Reviews and approves contracts and has overall responsibility for ensuring events stay within budget. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Meeting/Event Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Meeting/Event Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     About the Job: Our client is seeking a dynamic Director to lead our Boring Division (horizontal drilling). This key role involves overseeing directional drilling operations, managing staff, and equipment management. Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations, you will collaborate closely with the Senior Directors of Safety, Compliance, and Project Execution, as well as Regional Directors and the Director of Projects. The ideal candidate will excel in recruiting, training, developing, and retaining employees, while prioritizing excellence in safety, quality, and productivity.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead a team of 4-5 direct reports, including the Construction Manager and Lead Foreman.
    • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve division and company goals.
    • Attend bid walks and project kick-off meetings.
    • Prepare and review estimates, coordinating with the estimating team for bid proposals and reviews.
    • Approve hours and purchases coded to divisional operations.
    • Provide profit/loss projection analysis reports.
    • Oversee resource management and division equipment.
    • Collaborate with internal and external customers for efficient project execution.
    • Consult with clients on schedules, safety, improvements, and obstacles.
    • Partner with the Safety team for risk management.
    • Establish roles and responsibilities aligned with project plans, budgets, and business objectives.
    • Analyze challenges to determine safe and efficient resolutions.
    • Develop client relationship management strategies.
    • Enhance communication between management, clients, and corporate departments.
    • Provide day-to-day leadership to build infrastructure, grow the business, and increase profitability.
    • Optimize documentation and generate comprehensive reports on Key Performance Indicators, including safety, value creation, downtime, schedule adherence, and workforce management.
    • Periodically manage projects from conception to completion.
    • Develop bid proposals for various project types as needed.
    • Perform other duties as directed.


    Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in directional boring and utility locating equipment operations.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil or Mechanical), Project Management, Business, or related field preferred.
    • Skills in process improvement, customer service, infrastructure management, and strategic initiatives.
    • Excellent communication skills for effective networking within the company and with external stakeholders.
    • Highly self-motivated with a sense of urgency to complete tasks.
    • Strong attention to detail for planning, organizing, and coordinating work.
    • Superior analytical abilities for problem-solving and decision-making.
    • Exceptional leadership skills to ensure quality workmanship and well-articulated results.
    • Effective time management to meet deadlines.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Bluebeam, and Navisworks.
    • Ability to work in a professional and confidential environment.
