Counsels and provides crisis intervention for patients, including assessment and treatment of emotional and behavioral problems related to hospitalization. Being a Medical Social Worker (MSW) participates as a member of multi-disciplinary team and may assist patients in treatment planning. May contribute to the formulation of discharge plans. Additionally, Medical Social Worker (MSW) may take a leadership role on more complex cases. Requires a master's degree of social work. Typically reports to a manager. The Social Worker plays an integral part in the utilization review process. # QUALIFICATIONS: Master#s Degree in Social Work from an accredited program. Current license as social worker in Oklahoma preferred. Hospital social work experience preferred. Strong skills in oral and written communication. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Able to speak clearly and distinctly with staff, physicians, patients, and families. Able to extensively utilize telephone for communication. Demonstrates adequate physical and emotional stamina to deal with stressful situations and to complete necessary work schedule. Able to sit/stand/walk for extended periods of time throughout the work schedule, with some lifting and bending. Demonstrates adequate vision, or correctable with glasses/contacts, for reading and preparing written documents. Able to hear, or adequate hearing with corrections, spoken communications from staff, physicians, patients, and families as well as pages. Demonstrates adequate manual dexterity to prepare written documents.
