MEDICAL LAB TECHNICIAN jobs in Florida

This position will perform laboratory tests in order to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations by carrying out routine tasks accurately and following strict methodologies by preparing specimens and samples. Constructing, maintaining and operating standard laboratory equipment.

• Work closely with patients who might be in pain or under emotional duress.
• Perform tests that require exact measurements and a good eye for detail.
• Work with hands and will need dexterity to work with small vials, test tubes, and delicate lab equipment.
• Understand complex lab machinery and computer programs used to conduct tests.
• Knowledge with practical techniques and apply this knowledge to solve technical problems.
• Must have good hand-eye coordination and the ability to use technical equipment with accuracy.
• Must have ability to maintain and calibrate technical equipment.
• Must be flexibility in order to work with and provide support for a number of people.
• Excellent oral communication skills in order to work effectively with colleagues from all parts of the organization and to explain complex techniques to interested parties.
• Must have teamwork skills, patience and attention to detail.
• Will perform laboratory tests in order to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations to carry out routine tasks accurately and following strict methodologies to carry out analyses by preparing specimens and samples.
• Constructing, maintaining and operating standard laboratory equipment, for example centrifuges, titrators, pipetting machines and pH meters.
• Ensuring the laboratory is well-stocked and resourced.
• Recording and sometimes interpreting results to present to senior colleagues.
• Using computers and performing mathematical calculations for the preparation of graphs.
• Lab need to be sterile environments, must maintain a clean environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Associate's degree in life science or medical technology but a bachelor's degree is preferable.
• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a medical setting.
• Knowledge of Athena, CPT and ICD-10 codes a plus
• Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
• Able to manage multiple concurrent tasks.
• Flexible to handle unexpected daily challenges

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to walk, stand and sit intermittently. Upon occasions be able to assist in properly moving a patient. Be able to lift up to 30 pounds. May need to push or pull medical equipment. May have to stoop, bend knees and/or reach. Must be able to use the keyboard on a computer. Phone work required.
