Medical Interpreter conducts medical and general interpreting for staff, patients, and their families. Assesses and monitors patients' understanding of information conveyed. Being a Medical Interpreter advises medical personnel about any cultural issues that might impact patient care. Records and monitors interpretation activities according to hospital and department standards. Additionally, Medical Interpreter may be required to translate written documents. Requires familiarity with medical terminology. Requires fluency in one or more languages in addition to English. May require an associate degree or equivalent. May require Translation certificate. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Interpreter works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. POSITION SUMMARY: We are looking for a Registration Specialist/Spanish Medical Interpreter to join our Registration team! The Registration Specialist/Medical Interpreter receives patients and visitors to RHSHC and is responsible for maintaining patient flow, scheduling appointments, forwarding appropriate phone calls, registering patients and upgrading demographics. They provide interpretation services during various processes, and make sight translations of documents. The Registration Specialist/Medical Interpreter will provide accurate concepts and explanations with no additions or omissions, and according to conventions of established interpretation protocol. Successfully process and impart information swiftly, and relay intentions, emotions and tone in interpretations. Will also provide educational opportunities for staff.
