Materials Management Supervisor supervises daily operations and planning to optimize the flow of raw materials, supplies, and equipment from initial procurement to the final disposition and fulfill material requirements for volume, cost, and scheduling business operations. Uses material requirement plans to ensure the required flow of materials is maintained. Being a Materials Management Supervisor coordinates procurement, warehouse, and distribution operations and staffing to enable workflows crucial to the flow of materials. Troubleshoots and resolves operational roadblocks. Additionally, Materials Management Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Materials Management Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Materials Management Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. The Supervisor with support and oversight from the Manager, is responsible for overseeing a team that provides the receiving, stocking, supply and equipment replenishment needs of hospital and clinic departments. The Supervisor establishes and maintains relationships with customer departments to understand their needs, improve the flow of supplies, manage par levels, effectively adding new items to inventory or removing old items from inventory and implementing new storage models. Additionally, the Supervisor directs the work of their team of supply/equipment technicians including establishing and adjusting schedules; orientation and on-boarding; education, competency assessment, and audits; productivity monitoring; assuring inventory accuracy; and caregiver performance management. Maintains safety, efficiency, and infection control standards along with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Provides leadership and supervision regarding departmental performance by completing evaluations, maintaining staff competency and development, and assures all work in specified areas is completed while maintaining a high level of quality. Maintains adequate and appropriate staffing with the Manager and API coordinator. Supervises the workflow to ensure the department’s role and function in the Healthcare System supports the delivery of the highest possible standard of patient care, and customer service for staff and visitors within the available resources. Creates and ensures staff compliance with competencies and route responsibilities. Reviews and recommends revisions to competencies and route responsibilities as needed. Coordinates cycle counts and other inventory management techniques to ensure the accuracy of inventory levels. Supervises programs in a cost effective manner while ensuring adequate levels of supplies and equipment. Anticipates issues affecting the department’s function and activity that may affect service delivery to patients, staff and visitors, and ensures actions are taken to address issues in close cooperation with the Director and Manager. Develops a strong, collaborative relationship with directors, peers, and other key individuals across the Healthcare System, and fosters a multidisciplinary teamwork approach to decision-making and problem resolution. Oversees Materials Management staff and warehouse operations. Assist with taking after hours call. Provides back up coverage for Purchasing Staff Completes reports and maintains records. Plans, leads and drives projects Performs daily audits of par levels and clean/dirty rooms. Responsible for the creation and maintenance of departmental policies, procedures and competencies. Is a role model for departmental behavior, and provides and promotes a positive working environment for departmental staff to ensure strong employee morale, motivation and productivity. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, conferences, etc. Performs other duties as assigned. Education: High School diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree preferred. Licensure: Valid California Driver’s License required. Experience: A minimum of three (3) years in a leadership experience required, preferably in a healthcare setting. The hourly rate for this position is $38.51 - $48.13 The range displayed on this job posting reflects the target for new hire salaries for this position.
