Description

As our Purchasing Manager, you will be at the forefront of managing all aspects of purchasing and sourcing for the company. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the continuous supply of raw materials, focusing on optimizing cost, quality, and improving our ROI. This role requires a strategic thinker with a keen understanding of market trends, particularly in the lumber market, although expertise in this area is not a prerequisite.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Purchasing and Sourcing: Develop and implement strategic purchasing policies and procedures. Source new suppliers and negotiate contracts to secure favorable terms.
• Cost Optimization: Work towards reducing the cost of goods through effective negotiation and leveraging cooperative purchasing contracts.
• Supplier Relationship Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers. Evaluate supplier performance to ensure compliance with company standards and expectations.
• Market Analysis: Monitor market trends and analyze their impact on supply chain activities. Adapt sourcing strategies based on market changes to maintain competitive advantage.
• Transportation and Logistics: Negotiate transportation deals to lower the overall cost of goods, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of materials.
• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement team to achieve departmental and organizational goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred but not required with experience in a commiserate job.
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in procurement or purchasing, with a proven track record of improving cost efficiency and ROI.
• Knowledge of the lumber market is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Strong negotiation skills and experience with cooperative purchasing contracts.
• Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills.
• Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively across departments.
