Manufacturing Director oversees manufacturing operations and the production management and supervisory teams for a plant or unit. Incorporates organization-wide operational safety, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and cost control policies and programs into manufacturing processes. Being a Manufacturing Director monitors production metrics, responds to and resolves problems, and recommends process improvements, new technologies, and methods to maximize operational efficiency. Collaborates with leaders to manage and resolve workforce or labor issues and develop long-term solutions. Additionally, Manufacturing Director implements long-term plans for facilities, equipment, materials, technology, and workforce resources to maintain manufacturing capacity and processes that support business goals. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Manufacturing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.     POSITION SUMMARY: Accountable for overseeing the daily activities and results of all operations functions and personnel. This includes ensuring all necessary resources are available and capable of meeting established regulations, quality standards and production plans and objectives, including cGMP and OSHA regulations, company policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Directly responsible for managing the daily activities of production managers, supervisors, coordinating training and disciplinary actions when necessary. Responsible for leading and coordinating hiring, promotions, transfers and discharges. Serves as a mentor to Operations Managers, Supervisors and Leads through training and leadership. Coordinates with other department leaders to ensure a smooth and cohesive operation.

    RESPONSIBILITIES – Satisfactorily performing and/or achieving the following Responsibilities are essential duties of the job.

    • Provide leadership and oversight to all production shifts and management.
    • Develop and execute strategies, plans and associated processes to ensure production meets stated and required goals and scheduled demands for finished product.
    • Oversee the development and deployment of training plans, methods, and curriculums. Provide the necessary support for production management to successfully promote operators through a manufacturing Credentialed Training program.
    • Proactively apprise senior management and other functions of potential threats, opportunities, and recommended actions.
    • Oversee the development and review of key performance metrics and monitor performance to ensure that defined goals are met or exceeded, and corrective action if necessary, is promptly taken.
    • Ensure production has all the necessary tools and resources to be compliant with Thorne policies as well as federal, state and local regulatory bodies, and other quality agencies, manufacturing standards, and certifying agencies as well as to provide and maintain a safe workplace for employees.
    • Ensure alignment with Quality management, regulatory requirements and Thorne product and manufacturing standards.
    • Ensure all validations have and are being performed prior to production utilizing equipment, processes, and cleaning.
    • Build effective partnerships with other department heads to facilitate open and candid communications and collaboration to drive the business toward achieving company objectives.
    • Build and lead a highly performing team, secure the best talent, develop and strengthen staff and future leaders, and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.

    What You Need

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience); advanced degree a plus.
    • Minimum of ten (10) years relevant experience in manufacturing environment, including management, process optimization, scale-up, cGMP.
    • Comprehensive understanding of dietary supplement manufacturing principles and practices, machinery and equipment, staffing and training, quality and regulatory requirements, key performance metrics and measurements.
