Major Gifts Manager manages and implements a philanthropic gift program to nurture and solicit relationships with corporate, institutional, and major donors. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Major Gifts Officer oversees the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gifts of $10,000 and more from individuals, foundations, and corporations. This position was created to maximize gift revenue from Guest House’s sizable constituency of prospects who have the capacity and interest to increase their giving to the major gift level. The MGO works closely with the Director of Mission Advancement and the mission advancement team members to develop and implement strategy for individual major gift donor relationship management to meet short and long-term goals of the organization. The Major Gifts Officer also oversees the planned giving program and prepares solicitation materials, including funding proposals and request letters; coordinates efforts to continuously inform, recognize and steward major donors; and helps recruit and train fundraising volunteers.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manage a portfolio of primary prospects for both major and planned giving from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
2. Participate in all aspects of the gift cycle: Initiate contacts with potential prospect and major gift donors- develop appropriate cultivation strategies for them, including working with volunteers- Move potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure- Make solicitations when appropriate- Maintain stewardship contacts with donors; adhere to the highest ethical standards; demonstrate empathetic disposition, and perseverance; reflect optimistic and positive attitude, and convey sensitivity to needs of the donors
3. Play lead role in soliciting and closing major gifts.
4. Cultivate and expand current giving by planned gift donors and integrate planned gift objectives into major individual donor requests.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree required. Five to seven years of successful experience in major or planned gift fundraising preferably in a healthcare environment. Ability to understand the needs and interests of leadership and major gift donors in order to develop relationships. Demonstrated leadership and the ability to successfully manage multi-functional areas. Successful experience in making cold calls as well as developing cultivation and solicitation strategies. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated record of completing assignments. Must be willing to travel and be available to work nights and weekends.
