Light Assembler jobs in Connecticut
Light Assembler assembles fabricated parts of small or light subassemblies and completes units. Fits, tests, and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications. Being a Light Assembler identifies and sorts units that fail quality standards. May disassemble units to repair or refit parts as necessary. Additionally, Light Assembler operates hand tools, power tools, and other manufacturing assembly line equipment to assemble units. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Light Assembler works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Position Summary
Performs any combination of following duties in the soldering assembly of electronic components onto printed circuit boards according to specifications, using solder irons, hand tools and semi-automatic equipment: Reads process sheets, receives verbal instructions, and selects components, such as connectors, transistors, resistors, relays, capacitors, and integrated circuits.
Position Responsibilities- Aligns and assembles parts, such as leads, coils, wires, and terminals into housing, use of hand tools, power tools, soldering irons, tweezers, pliers, cutters, and microscopes.
- Press-fits component leads onto board and solder.
- Places plastic insulating sleeves around specified wire leads of components and shrinks sleeves into place, using heat gun.
- Crimps wire leads on underside of board, using hand tools or press and solder.
- Installs heat sinks, sockets, faceplates, and accessories on boards, using hand tools and solder.
- Maintains cleanliness of production area and equipment.
- Support other areas of manufacturing as needed to support cross training.
- Basic knowledge of electronic components and Static Discharge.
- Able to understand and operate a computer in a Microsoft Windows environment.
- Understanding of materials handling.
- Able to follow and understand production documents such as process sheets and work instructions.
- Able to operate semiautomatic machines and related equipment.
- Good communication skills.
- Able to work under a microscope.
- Good Hand/Eye coordination.
- Have the ability to work in a team environment and assist other team members.
