    Summary Of Position

    We're seeking dedicated Sociology Instructors to primarily teach engaging online courses. As a part-time Instructor, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality instruction and fostering a supportive learning environment for our diverse student body. You'll collaborate with departmental colleagues and report to the department chair, focusing solely on instructional responsibilities without supervisory duties.

    Key Responsibilities

    Classroom/Course Instruction:

    Deliver dynamic instruction aligned with course objectives, utilizing required texts and materials.

    Create and distribute comprehensive syllabi outlining course expectations, objectives, assignments, and grading policies prior to the start of classes.

    Utilize technology effectively, meeting the established standards for our learning management system to facilitate student engagement.

    Student Assessment (Grading)

    Maintain accurate and up-to-date grading records, providing timely feedback to students on their progress and performance.

    Submit final grades by the designated deadline using the college's student information system.

    Planning And Communication

    Prepare thoroughly for each class session, incorporating diverse learning strategies to meet the needs of our student population.

    Maintain open communication with students and college staff, responding promptly to inquiries and attending departmental meetings as required.

    Keep the department chair informed of any updates or developments relevant to your courses.

    Qualifications

    Minimum of a Master's degree in sociology or a related field from an accredited institution, with at least 18 graduate hours in sociology.

    Preferred qualifications include 30 credit hours of sociology teaching experience in higher education and demonstrated expertise in non-traditional learning environments.

    Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to supporting the success of students from diverse backgrounds.
