Information Technology Supervisor supervises the implementation and administration of information systems and equipment in accordance with organizational policies and goals. Implements internal procedures and guidelines to diagnose and resolve technical issues across different systems and technologies, including hardware, software, and networks. Being an Information Technology Supervisor analyzes business needs and recommends IT hardware and software products to support internal business processes. Develops detailed documentation of methodologies, processes, and specifications of an organization's IT systems and coordinates and schedules IT initiatives. Additionally, Information Technology Supervisor monitors information systems to ensure computer equipment, hardware, and software operate in alignment with organizational needs and standards. Installs and configures an organization's network infrastructure including LANs, WANs, and wireless networks and monitors network performance. Implements basic security measures to protect systems and data and develops backup strategies and recovery plans. Collaborates with business groups to help utilize information systems to improve operational efficiency. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Information Technology Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be an Information Technology Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.     Job Summary

    The Information Technology (I.T.) Support Supervisor oversees the coordination, standardization, and optimization of end-user technology support across all school district buildings. This pivotal role entails managing the daily activities of district I.T. Support Technicians and I.T. Help Desk staff, while facilitating effective communication between system administrators and support personnel.

    Minimum Required Qualifications

    All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check. Additional minimum required qualifications for this position are:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Two (2) years' experience in supporting end-user technology, encompassing desktops, laptops, software, and other technology peripherals
    • Leadership experience, providing guidance and support to team members while fostering a collaborative and positive work environment; proven track record of earning the trust and respect of colleagues by effectively navigating challenges and finding innovative solutions
    • Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing a service request management system to effectively document, track, monitor, and escalate service requests; proven experience developing and documenting best practices for I.T. support procedures
    • Proven proficiency in understanding the connectivity and functionality of systems and software over both local networks and Internet
    • Strong technical expertise with extensive hands-on experience in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365 environments
    • Demonstrated proficiency in delivering excellent customer service, with strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Speak, read, write, and present professionally, analyze, and interpret English written and verbal communications
    • Valid driver’s license and evidence of insurability and access to reliable transportation

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in a technology-related field, or a minimum of four (4) years of full-time job-related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
    • Two (2) years in a leadership or supervisor role, coaching and developing employees
    • Prior experience with educational software in a K-12 education or public employment environment providing support to students, staff, and patrons
    • Familiarity with ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) principles and best practices
    • Relevant industry certifications (ITIL, CompTIA A , Network , and/or Project )

    Essential Functions & Responsibilities

    • Supervise and lead a team of I.T. support technicians and help desk technicians; manage timecards and scheduling of printing office by I.T. staff
    • Train I.T support technicians and help desk staff in effective methods in responding to and resolving problems
    • Lead regularly scheduled team meetings with I.T. support technicians and help desk staff to convey and gather information required to perform functions
    • Develop processes and procedures to optimize and standardize end-user support flow from the help desk to the I.T. support technician, and on to system administrators
    • Process service request work order/tickets from users to maintain computer operability and respond to staff inquiry
    • Develop and document standard service request work order/ticket escalation procedures
    • Oversee and maintain a centralized documentation management system that contains approved best practices for assessing malfunctions of hardware/software for technicians’ use to determine appropriate actions to maintain computer and network operations
    • Reviews computer and peripheral equipment production, malfunction, and maintenance reports to ensure proactive maintenance initiatives to reduce end user productivity loss
    • Continuously examine and improve service delivery processes; identify bottlenecks, streamline workflows, to ensure enhance efficiency; analyze help desk system activity and make recommendations for changes in procedures and system
    • Implement industry standards and frameworks (e.g., ITIL) to optimize service operations
    • Collaborate with I.T. Senior Network Services Administrators to identify emerging technical issues and trends to implement proactive solutions
    • Connect with other stakeholders (e.g., school administrators, teachers, technology coordinators, Network Services Administrators, etc.) to ensure understanding technology support needs and develop effective support procedures
    • Attend meetings as assigned to convey and gathering information required to perform functions
    • Train selected personnel for the purpose of ensuring their ability to use new and existing software
    • Respond to and resolves complaints dealing with department personnel or service delivery
    • Manage all district computing devices to ensure accurate inventory, surplus and disposal of items
    • Prepare written materials (e.g., reports, memos, letters, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and conveying information
    • Travel between multiple sites for the purpose of carrying out essential functions
    • Work under limited supervision, adapt to changing work priorities with frequent interruptions, utilize time-management and prioritization strategies, to meet deadlines
    • Represent the program in a professional manner using workplace etiquette
    • Maintain regular and predictable attendance for the purpose of fulfilling job requirements efficiently and effectively
    • Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit

    WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: some lifting to 30 pounds, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping kneeling, crouching, crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 50% sitting, 25% walking, and 25% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy office environment that is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Risks are consistent with a typical office environment, such as safe use of office equipment, avoiding slips, trips, and falls, observing fire and other building safety regulations.
