INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY GENERALIST performs overall information systems planning, implementation, and administration in a variety of IT functional areas. Collaborates with end users to diagnose and resolve technical issues across different systems and technologies, including hardware, software, and networks. Being an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY GENERALIST analyzes business needs and contributes to the selection of IT hardware and software to support internal business processes. Maintains detailed documentation of methodologies, processes, and specifications of an organization's IT systems and assists with the planning and scheduling of IT initiatives. Additionally, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY GENERALIST installs and configures an organization's network infrastructure including LANs, WANs, and wireless networks and monitors network performance. Implements basic security measures to protect systems, networks, and data and ensures backup strategies and recovery plans are up to date. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY GENERALIST occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.
