  • As a Database Administrator, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, integrity, and security of our enterprise data processing environment. This involves overseeing systems owned by CCU, as well as third-party connections and cloud-based applications. Your responsibilities will span from implementing tactical solutions and conducting maintenance to strategic planning and compliance adherence.

    Essential Job Duties

    Ensure the stability and security of all database platforms through regular validation of server configurations and monitoring.

    Collaborate with the infrastructure team to conduct Business Continuity (BC) testing.

    Identify and recommend new technologies to enhance stability, functionality, and security.

    Conduct data migrations and provide support for platform installations and upgrades.

    Keep the database environment up-to-date with necessary service packs, hotfixes, and security updates.

    Collaborate cross-functionally with operational teams to address performance or stability issues within the systems.

    Proactively engage with team members and stakeholders to provide recommendations and findings from root cause analyses.

    Maintain data integrity by limiting duplication and preventing corruption of data sets.

    Advise and implement system and data retention policies to optimize resources and application processing.

    Assist in developing and maintaining the department's strategic plan and action items.

    Interact with vendors, contractors, and third-party providers to ensure timely actions.

    Share knowledge and provide guidance to team members.

    Lead small to moderate projects with minimal oversight.

    Required Competencies

    Proficiency in managing SQL Server databases, including installation, configuration, backup, and disaster recovery.

    Ability to write and optimize T-SQL queries to support efficient database operations.

    Experience in securing SQL Server instances, managing user access, and implementing security best practices.

    Skills in performance tuning, including optimizing queries, indexing, and server configurations.

    Strong understanding of SQL Server integration with other systems and applications.

    Self-starter with initiative and ability to work independently.

    Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze incidents, identify root causes, and implement solutions.

    Up-to-date knowledge of new tools, features, and best practices.

    Strong verbal and written communication skills.

    Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

    Ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.

    Education Requirements

    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline preferred; relevant work experience also considered.

    Experience Requirements

    1 - 3 Years of related experience required.

    Communication Skills Required

    Ability to read, comprehend, and convey information effectively.

    Compensation: The Database Administrator I pay range is $60,000 - $85,000 per year, with rates depending on experience, education, and location. Additional growth opportunities and earnings potential exist within the organization.
