HVAC Mechanic jobs in New York
HVAC Mechanic performs maintenance and service repairs on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems. Installs new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines. Being an HVAC Mechanic follows blueprints or engineering specifications to install units. Performs troubleshooting to identify the cause of problems. Additionally, HVAC Mechanic maintains and secures a spare parts inventory. Recommends purchasing maintenance equipment and supplies as required to improve processes and efficiencies. Typically requires an apprenticeship and/or completion of technical training. Requires a high school diploma. The regulations governing the location may require an HVAC Mechanical State License and EPA Section 608 Certification (CFC). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The HVAC Mechanic works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. We are currently looking for an HVAC Mechanic for a large facility in Kings Point, NY. HVAC Mechanics will be responsible for the service, repair, and troubleshooting of all mechanical equipment within the facility.
Responsibilities:- Installation, service, troubleshooting and repairs including but not limited to; chillers, air handling units, controls, package units, split systems, exhaust fans, refrigerators, freezers, hot/chilled water pumps.
- Tasks ranging from operation of systems to the examination and evaluation of equipment to determine needed repairs.
- Installs refrigeration and air conditioning systems by positioning compressors, motors, condensers, humidifiers, evaporators, heaters and other components in accordance with design specifications.
- Charges refrigeration systems with refrigerant gas tests for leaks.
- Starts unit and adjusts it for proper cut-in and cut-out of refrigeration units, humidifiers, heaters, air cleaners, and circulating pumps.
- Maintains refrigeration and air conditioning systems by checking performance and determining problems. Repairs, adjusts, or replaces defective elements.
- Installs, maintains and repairs the electrical and pneumatic systems associated with refrigeration and air conditioning equipment from the safety switch throughout the equipment.
- Installs, maintains, repairs, operates all types centrifugal and reciprocating refrigeration/air-conditioning systems; also all types of pneumatic/electro-mechanical temperature controls.
- Performs necessary plumbing procedures to ensure operation of systems and equipment
- 2 Years of DDC Experience
- CFC
- Experience and/or certification in one or more predictive maintenance technologies (vibration analysis, infrared, ultrasound, etc.).
- 5 years of experience on commercial HVAC equipment
