Role
Under minimal supervision, performs accounting and supervisory work of considerable difficulty in maintaining the overall financial activities.
Major Duties, Responsibilities
- Prepares monthly financial reports and identifies discrepancies and potential problems.

Coordinates and analyzes departmental financial data and makes necessary recommendations to ensure expenditures are properly reported.

Assists in the preparation of annual budgets for all programs and funds.

Assists in drafting policies and procedures related to handling and processing of funds.

Handles all audits of financial data, programs, and funds, including answering data questions, meeting with auditors, and resolving audit issues.

Develops and improves needed financial record keeping systems and controls.

Oversees and ensures compliance with Minimum Accounting Standards for all personnel.

Approves purchase requests and invoices, and monitors line-item expenditures to ensure budgetary compliance.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, or closely related field.
Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible accounting experience, to include two (2) years in a supervisory capacity.
An equivalent combination of directly related work experience and education may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-per-year basis.
Additional Requirements:
Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.

Work Environment:
The work environment is associated with an office. The work area is adequately lighted, heated or cooled and ventilated.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effective in-person and telephonically. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
