Housekeeping Manager manages the daily operations of a housekeeping services department to ensure offices, patient/guest rooms, facilities and other specified areas are kept in a clean and orderly condition. Inspects facilities, recommends upgrades when needed. Being a Housekeeping Manager establishes workflows, standard procedures and quality control plans. Responsible for the maintenance of vendor/supplier relationship. Additionally, Housekeeping Manager may require a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Housekeeping Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Housekeeping Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Position Summary
Assists in managing the housekeeping program by performing the following duties. Other duties may be assigned. This position provides care for or assistance to patients of all ages, including: newborns, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and older adults.
Position Qualifications
Education and Experience
High school graduate or equivalent.
Prior Housekeeping And Supervisory Experience Preferred.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Assists in development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures and standards of work.
- Provides leadership and guidance to departmental personnel.
- Assists the Facilities Manager in developing the department’s annual budget.
- Maintains a current inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Maintains proficiency in all techniques and equipment used by the Housekeeping Department.
- Investigates, documents, and reports all unusual occurrences to the Facilities Manager.
- Ensures that patient care units are adequately stocked with linen.
- Monitors linen usage and reviews statistics with the Facilities Manager.
- Ensures all equipment is tested regularly.
- Schedules personnel for proper coverage of the facility.
- Conducts orientation and ongoing training for departmental personnel.
- Provides regularly scheduled in-services to departmental personnel.
- Maintains records of orientation and in-service training programs.
- Assists the Facilities Manager in completing performance evaluations.
- Participates in information management, performance improvement and infection control program.
- Represents and participates in committees and task forces as assigned by the Facilities Manager.
- Assists the Facilities Manager in meeting compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Supports and carries out facility policies.
- Carries out duties safely and uses safety devices provided to protect self and others. Reports safety hazards as appropriate.
- Promotes service excellence by demonstrating polite, cooperative, and respectful behavior to both internal and external customers.
- Assumes responsibility for completing mandatory educational requirements.
- Safeguards security and confidentiality of data/information according to HIPAA guidelines.
- Carries out duties safely and uses safety devices provided to protect self and others. Report safety hazards as appropriate.
