Hospital Staffing Coordinator coordinates scheduling and staffing to ensure sufficient staff coverage for all shifts within a healthcare facility. Works with clinical and administrative departments to project staffing needs and achieve required staffing levels. Being a Hospital Staffing Coordinator utilizes and maintains staffing scheduling software/programs to schedule shifts, monitor staffing levels, and input related data. May perform other administrative functions as necessary. Additionally, Hospital Staffing Coordinator may be responsible for recruiting new staff. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Hospital Staffing Coordinator works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.   • Incumbent works under the direction of the Director of Psychiatric Nursing or designee, developing and coordinating computerized and/or manual staffing schedules.

    • Develop and post work schedules for designated nursing and non-nursing personnel, submitting preliminary schedules for review.
    • Establish and maintain effective work relationships with clients, supervisors, County employees, elected officials, attorneys, law enforcement, judges, other agencies, and the public.
    • Comply with Civil Service policies and regulations, collective bargaining agreements, County policies, department policies and laws to create a cooperative, safe, respectful and quality work environment.
    • Monitor adherence to staff schedules and adjustments ensuring adequate services and personnel are provided.
    • Assign agency personnel according to facility training/staffing needs and ensure agency bills are accurate and processed.
    • Review staffing requirements and contact appropriate staff and/or agencies facilitating unit coverage consistent with patient care needs. 
    • Ensure proper exchange of information on the interpretation, implementation, and administration of scheduling policies and practices.
    • Develop/maintain a tracking system (e.g. schedules, vacation requests, sick leave, absenteeism, payroll information) and assist in application of the unplanned absence point system.  
    • Assist in the delivery, computation, and audit of timecards and payroll information.
    • Maintain knowledge and job skills (e.g. research, webinars, seminars, meetings, continuing education). Utilize designated staffing program computing plan sheets and schedules.
    • Post staffing needs in compliance with established policies/procedures and collective bargaining agreements.
    • Perform quality control checks on staffing levels, providing support documentation and factors that influence staffing requirements.
    • Assist with department quality assurance process.
    • Participate in hospital in-service sessions.
    • Update and maintain licensure/certification and contact information for all CMHC staff.
    • Complete and maintain Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Regulation and Licensure Department forms for the Nurse Aide Registry.
    • Safely operate a vehicle when required to travel on County business.
    • Report to work with regular, consistent attendance.
    • Perform other duties as assigned and directed.
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.*
    • One (1) year of clerical work experience required.* 
    • Valid driver’s license upon hire and maintained throughout employment required.
    • Completion of a pre-employment criminal record check and conditional offer drug screen required.

    • Required sensory abilities include vision, hearing, and touch. Visual abilities, correctable to normal ranges, include close vision, distance and color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Communication abilities include the ability to talk and hear within normal ranges. Incumbent must possess the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computers and other equipment.
