    THE ROLE

    The Director of Operations, under the direction of the Senior Director of Behavioral Health, is responsible and accountable for systems, structures, day-to-day operations, and outcomes of the Providence Behavioral Health Network. Under the strategic direction of the Senior Director of Behavioral Health, the Director of Operations:

    • Works in partnership with Behavioral Health Senior Leadership to optimize operations in all Behavioral Health departments in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, protocols, and Federal/State regulations, laws, and standards.
    • Works collaboratively with Business Affairs to optimize business development activities and strategic planning processes to optimize growth and development of the Behavioral Health Network.
    • Collaborates with Senior Leadership and other Subject Matter Experts to optimize quality of care and day-to-day service delivery operations.
    • Works collaboratively with Senior Leadership to develop Specialty Projects in accordance with Providence mission, vision, and promises as well as patient care needs.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Administrative/Leadership/Professionalism

    • Provides strategic leadership, guidance, and oversight for each department/program within the Providence Behavioral Health Network to ensure established goals, objectives, and outcomes are being met related to quality of care, operational excellence, and customer service.
    • Works collaboratively with Senior Leadership to effectively and efficiently track trends, develop and implement corrective action plans (CAPS), and closely monitor to ensure key concerns are being quickly and adequately addressed and progress is consistently being made toward meeting identified goals and objectives.
    • Attends assigned/scheduled meetings, actively participates on committees, and makes meaningful and relevant contributions toward improvement ideas (e.g., projects, satisfaction, safety, etc.).
    • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with staff at all levels of the organization, all stakeholders, and outside partners.
    • Ability to lead and influence organizational change and drive high quality and results-oriented outcomes.
    • Identifies, documents, and monitors metrics for project performance, compiles, and manages the data and notifies stakeholders of problems affecting timelines, resources, and budgets.
    • Ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple projects as well as recognize challenges and make changes and modifications to current projects when necessary while utilizing available resources to ensure projects are completed within established timelines and budgets.
    • Works collaboratively with Senior Leadership to develop operating budgets and control expenses accordingly as well as meet budgeting goals and limitations through effective and efficient use of resources.
    • Actively supports and incorporates the mission and core values into daily activities.
    • Consistently demonstrates and incorporates principles of safety and high reliability in the workplace.
    • Conducts all transactions in compliance with all agency policies, procedures, standards, and practices.
    • Responsible for clinical operations including workforce strategies, budgeting, access, financial performance, achievement of service metrics, and management of teams and deliverables within the Providence Behavioral Health Network.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Master’s degree from an accredited institution
    • 10-15 years of supervisory/management experience with demonstrated leadership and strong project/change management skills
    • 10-15 years of Operations, Finance, Quality, Risk, and Business Growth and Development experience working in a Behavioral Health Setting
    • 5 years of experience working with community and business leaders, physicians, and other clinical leaders, finance and operations leaders and executives
    • Knowledgeable about State and Federal Regulatory, Licensing, and Accreditation standards
    • Experience with Microsoft Office software programs (e.g., Word, Excel, PPT)
    • Skilled in CAP, LEAN, and complex project management.
    • Public presentation and communication skills.
    • Strategic thinking and planning: Ability to collect, analyze, and present data and research with credibility to both inform decisions and help build the case for change to support the execution of decisions.
    • Ability to effectively communicate in both written and oral form about highly complex information that allows Senior Leaders to make appropriate decisions.
    • Operational Understanding and Effectiveness: Understands core business processes and operations. Strong negotiation skills. Demonstrated ability to navigate politically sensitive discussions and implement creative solutions to achieve shared objectives that are in accordance with the Providence mission, vision, and promises.
    • Teamwork and Cooperation: Models effective team membership for others within the Providence Behavioral Health Network. Encourages team cooperation and fosters the development of trust. Actively facilitates and supports team decisions. Takes initiative to resolve conflicts.
    • Problem solving and Decision-making: Demonstrates the ability to deal with complexity. Consistently makes sound decisions that reflect thorough consideration of alternative and creative solutions that influence change. Maintains awareness of and sensitivity to the impact decisions have on others.
    • Flexibility and Response to Change: Demonstrates the ability to deal with ambiguity. Supports and promotes new and evolving procedures and routines. Participates actively in the change process and offers suggestions for new approaches.
    • Quality of Work: Manages time effectively. Anticipates problems and takes corrective action in a proactive manner.
