Health and Safety Supervisor supervises the identification and remediation of hazardous workplace conditions. Oversees the measurement and sampling of hazardous materials, and any removal of physical, biological and chemical hazards. Being a Health and Safety Supervisor investigates, analyzes, and reports on any accidents or unsafe events and suggests remedial and preventative actions. Develops a safety conscious culture by providing workforce education on first aid, emergency/safety procedures and regulations. Additionally, Health and Safety Supervisor ensures all necessary records are maintained and are in compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations. Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a Manager. The Health and Safety Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Health and Safety Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Our location in Pembroke, NC has an opening for an Environmental, Health and Safety Supervisor.
This role is responsible for the day-to-day safety initiatives in our facility located in Pembroke, CO. The EHS/Safety Supervisor reports directly to the Plant Manager, and will be required to promote safety attitudes, safe work practices and environments as well as maintain and administer the EHS program with the objective of preventing injuries and environmental impact, while ensuring regulatory compliance.
Your Day-to-Day- Advises and assists in promoting a safe work environment at the facility.
- Ensures compliance with federal and state/provincial regulations by understanding existing and
needed actions.- Acts as an internal resource for incident investigation using root cause analysis.
- Responsible for keeping records of safety-related incidents and recommendation and administration of
- Collaborate by sharing best practices with other DH facilities and supports the execution of initiatives
- Performs safety compliance inspections including hazard analysis & risk assessments,
- Reviews safe work procedures, written reports, and provides recommendations.
- Leads others directly and indirectly to enhance safety culture
- Responsible for monitoring adherence to the company safety program by all Dessert Holdings
- Work collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure health and safety concerns are addressed and
- Follow-up on open action items, legislative requirements, and support the implementation of corrective
- Partners with Human Resources in workers compensation management
- Understands local incident record keeping requirements. Responsible for completing and submitting
- Assists in the processing, tracking, recording, and reporting of accident and incident data
- Coordinates the site health and safety committee and ensures compliance, where applicable
- Develop site specific training materials and executes safety training to include legal compliance
- Point of contact for on-site security, where applicable
- Other duties related to maintaining a safe work environment as assigned
- A minimum of bachelor’s degree or technical training in any safety-related field
- A professional designation (e.g. CSP, CRSP) is an asset
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of OSHA regulations, and occupational health and safety
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) to be an effective influencer at all levels and
- Proficiency with database applications and administration systems, specifically Microsoft office
- Effective organizational skills
- Must be a HIGHLY MOTIVATED, service and team-oriented individual with an attention to detail
- At least 3 years of experience supporting Safety in a manufacturing setting
- Must be able to work in a production environment for extended periods of time, including stooping,
- Use hands and fingers to handle objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms.
- Must be able to stoop, kneel or bend.
- Employee must lift up to 50 pounds and is required to ask for assistance if limit is exceeded.
