Head Teller ensures the daily operational activities of the teller line are executed with accuracy and fulfill required service standards. Processes and records routine transactions, handles complex or unusual customer transactions, and answers more complex customer inquiries. Being a Head Teller depending on policy, may authorize certain transactions. Assists with teller onboarding, training, and guidance. Additionally, Head Teller is responsible for vault oversight and the daily auditing, reporting, and balancing processes. Oversees each teller's daily reconciliation and assists if needed. Ensures that tellers comply with all operating, regulatory, and security policies and procedures. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Head Teller supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Head Teller typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     First Hawaiian Bank is currently seeking a customer-focused and engaging Head Teller to join our Wahiawa branch. In this role, you will be responsible for providing stellar customer service while processing customer transactions and supports bank goals by promoting and referring bank products and services. The Head Teller also assists in the supervision of Branch Tellers and Branch operations.

    Compensation

    The pay range is $19.00 - $22.50/hour, commensurate with experience; plus sales incentives. 

    Work Schedule

    Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM (hours may vary); Saturday 9:00AM - 1:00PM (on a rotation basis)

    The ideal candidate will have:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • 1 year of experience as an FHB Senior Teller; or
    • 2 years’ experience as an FHB Teller and cross-trained to perform supervisor duties; or
    • 1 year experience as a Teller (or equivalent) in another financial institution with two years’ supervisory and cashiering experience required.
    • Knowledge of the financial services industry (e.g., retail, mortgage/loans/deposits, and wholesale banking) preferred.
    • Must be pleasant and tactful when interacting with customers.
    • Good oral and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Attention to detail and ability to use judgment and discretion regarding customer transactions and confidential information.
    • Able to handle confidential matters judiciously.
    • Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations and balance cash with the assistance of a calculator.
    • Possess sales skills to enhance business development opportunities.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Familiar with standard concepts, procedures, and practices in branch operations.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead a team.
    • Ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines.
    • Ability to problem solve.
    • Ability to resolve complex staff and customer issues/transactions.
    • Exercise good judgement.
