The Medical Ancillary Technician in a private practice setting plays a vital role in ensuring efficient operations and high-quality patient care delivery. This position involves a combination of patient interaction, technical support, administrative duties, and collaboration with healthcare professionals to maintain a smooth workflow within the practice.

Responsibilities:

• Patient Care:
• Greet patients warmly and assist with check-in procedures, including verifying personal and insurance information.
• Escort patients to examination rooms, prepare them for consultations, and assist healthcare providers during examinations or procedures.
• Provide patient education on procedures, medications, and follow-up instructions as directed by healthcare providers.
• Technical Support:
• Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring they are stocked with necessary supplies and equipment for patient appointments.
• Perform basic medical procedures such as measuring vital signs, collecting specimens, and conducting point-of-care testing as ordered by healthcare providers.
• Assist with minor surgical procedures, wound care, and other medical treatments under the supervision of licensed professionals.
• Administrative Duties:
• Schedule patient appointments, follow-up visits, and diagnostic tests, coordinating with patients and other staff members to optimize scheduling efficiency.
• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) or practice management systems, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
• Manage phone calls, inquiries, and incoming correspondence, directing them to the appropriate staff members for resolution.
• Collaboration:
• Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, and administrative staff to coordinate patient care activities and ensure seamless workflow.
• Participate in team meetings, staff trainings, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance practice operations and patient satisfaction.
• Collaborate with external healthcare providers, laboratories, and other service providers to facilitate referrals, consultations, and continuity of care for patients.
• Quality Assurance:
• Adhere to practice policies, protocols, and regulatory standards to maintain a safe, clean, and compliant environment for patients and staff.
• Perform regular equipment checks, maintenance tasks, and inventory management to ensure availability and functionality of medical supplies and instruments.
• Contribute to quality assurance efforts by identifying areas for improvement, reporting incidents or concerns, and implementing corrective actions as needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; certification or training as a medical assistant, certified nursing assistant (CNA), or equivalent is preferred.
• Bilingual (English and Spanish)
• Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting, with knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and patient care practices.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and empathetically with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Proficiency in computer applications, electronic health records (EHR) systems, and basic office software for documentation and scheduling tasks.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical standards in all interactions and duties.
