Head Nurse plans and implements the overall nursing policies, procedures, and services for a unit. Maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training clinical staff. Being a Head Nurse ensures that nurses are current in competencies, assessments, licensure, certifications, and other annual training. May provide direct patient care and is responsible for assessing, planning, and evaluating patients. Additionally, Head Nurse requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Typically requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Head Nurse manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Nurse typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. We are looking for a skilled, resourceful, and collaborative solid waste professional with strong business ties in the PA, DE, NJ area to join our Solid Waste team as a Project Director. The Project Director will be responsible for developing and securing project work to grow the firm’s solid waste presence in the region and for recruiting a team of engineers and scientists to support the project work. This leadership position is expected to contribute to the growth of the firm and can lead to firm ownership.

Essential Functions – What You Will Do

- Prepare proposals and project budgets.
- Direct projects both financially and technically.
- Manage and supervise staff engineers and scientists.
- Set technical strategy and oversee production of technical work products.
- Coordinate with project team members and clients.
- Interpret and analyze field and laboratory data.
- Oversee the preparation of technical reports, data tables, specifications, and other deliverables.
- Serve as an Engineer-of-Record.
Competencies – What We Are Looking For- Minimum of 15 years relevant experience (focus specifically related to solid waste) and a BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering or 12 years relevant experience (focus specifically related to solid waste) and a MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- Possess Professional Engineering Licensure for the states in the region or the ability to secure such within 6 months.
- Strong attention to detail with a solid understanding of solid waste permitting, design, and operations.
- Experience in landfill design/permitting, stormwater management, leachate and landfill gas management, geotechnical and groundwater engineering, geosynthetics, and associated construction.
- Knowledge of transfer station, recycling facility, and leachate treatment operations.
- Strong organizational, supervisory, mentoring, and time management skills combined with the flexibility to work with shifting priorities.
- Client-service orientation with the ability to anticipate needs and deliver to meet expectations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Work well as a team member, with a collaborative communication style.
