Groundskeeper jobs in Oregon
Groundskeeper cuts and maintains lawns and grass. Rakes leaves and cares for plants, flowers, trees, and shrubs. Being a Groundskeeper determines the appropriate plants or shrubs for walkways or garden areas. Provides grounds maintenance in all seasons. Additionally, Groundskeeper is responsible for snow and dirt removal. Keeps the grounds and environment of a facility in a clean, attractive, orderly, safe, and healthy condition. Operates light trucks and assorted power equipment. Performs routine cleaning and maintenance on gardening and grounds equipment. May require horticultural training. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Groundskeeper works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Overview
We are seeking a Groundskeeper for a seasonal assignment in Ontario, Oregon. The selected candidate will perform a variety of tasks in the Parks and Cemetery Department including maintenance of equipment, mowing, ground maintenance and other duties on an assigned shift.
Hours are Monday - Friday, 7 : 00am - 4 : 00pm
This position has a pay rate of $15.00 / hr
This is a temporary / seasonal position through the summer
Responsibilities
- Maintains parks, cemeteries and medians / parkways
- Keeps grounds free of weeds
- Maintains sprinkler systems and assists in the repair and installation of sprinkler lines and heads
- Sweeps, washes, paints, and repairs or replaces park tables
- Performs a variety of interior and exterior building maintenance tasks such as painting, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, grounds works and other unskilled and semi-skilled work
- Plants lawn, trees, shrubs and flowers
- Operates, maintains, and repairs tractors, mowers, chainsaws, weed eaters, light trucks, jack hammers, welders, trucks, steam cleaners, buffers, washers and other equipment as needed
- Picks up litter from premises
- Opens and closes and locks and unlocks facilities as needed
- Assists in setting up and taking down equipment for various park and recreation programs; prepares facilities for park and recreation program use
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- A valid Driver's License
- Some knowledge in grounds and facilities maintenance
