Being a Geologist studies variations in rock formations and densities to identify new mineral deposits. Estimates depth, quality and vastness of deposits. Additionally, Geologist tests mineral quality and purity to determine feasibility of mining. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Responsibilities- Perform technical analysis related to non-aqueous phase liquid (NAPL) such as delineation, stability, recoverability, and natural source zone depletion (NSZD) evaluations.
- Prepare conceptual site models (CSMs).
- Prepare and review reports and technical presentations for delivery to clients and regulators.
- Manage on-site field staff during the implementation of investigation and design projects.
- Develop and task manage project plans, work scopes, schedules, and budgets with associated tracking and organizational tools.
- Work with staff and senior technical experts in offices throughout the nation to deliver high quality work products to local clients.
- Provide technical direction and training to staff, as necessary to complete assignments.
- Mentor, coach, and develop junior staff.
- Delegate and coordinate project tasks.
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, hydrogeology, geology, or similar science.
- 4 years of relevant professional experience in environmental consulting.
- Demonstrated ability to perform technical analysis and write technical reports.
- Experience with plume stability evaluations, LNAPL transmissivity test implementation and evaluation, and/or NSZD test implementation.
- Programming capability (e.g., R or Python) to perform complex evaluations and/or automate routine tasks.
- Experience working with databases (e.g., EQuIS) and GIS is a plus.
- Professional registration (e.g., P.E., LSP, P.G., etc.) in area of expertise is a plus.
- Master’s degree in environmental engineering, hydrogeology, geology, or similar science is a plus.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER training is a plus.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s license.
- Willingness and ability to travel on short-term assignments as needed.
- Salary: $75K/yr - $110K/yr negotiable
