Additionally, General Maintenance Worker may require a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The General Maintenance Worker works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. - Able to effecitvely use a variety of hand and power tools.
- Able to safely operate lawn and grounds equipment.
- Must have sufficient strength to meet the demands of the job which include lifting up to 50 pounds and the ability to climb, lift, bend, and stand 90% of time
- Able to work in all weather conditions and perform snow removal and grounds work
- Obtain 3 background clearances: PA Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, and the Federal Criminal History Record (CHRI)
- Maintain a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and have reliable transportation and a safe driving record
- Perform minor repairs including but not limited to: painting, drywall, carpentry, masonry, electrical, and plumbing. Perform preventative maintenance as directed.
- Replace filters and light bulbs, normally at heights of twelve feet or less.
- Fuel student vans as needed. Report vehicle issues to Facilities Manager.
- Maintain security of campus buildings including checking, opening, closing and locking doors and windows.
- Move furniture, equipment, and materials as needed.
- Transport incoming deliveries and other supplies to appropriate buildings, unpack/assemble as needed.
- Prepare rooms and outdoor spaces for special events. Set up chairs, tables, and other items following directions.
- Clean walks, remove snow, and apply de-icing solutions.
- Operate all lawn and grounds equipment, including power mowers and snow blowers to ensure grounds are properly are maintained. Perform minor mechanical work as needed.
- Assist custodial staff as needed. May operate vacuum cleaners, strippers, buffers and mop wringers; and use mops, brooms, brushes, soap, cleaning fluid, floor wax and other material related to building cleaning.
- Perform related duties, special assignments and projects as assigned.
