Foundation Director directs the execution of the vision, strategic planning, financial management, fundraising, and grantmaking operations that support the overall objectives of a foundation. Defines the goals and tactics for fundraising campaigns and program initiatives. Being a Foundation Director represents the foundation to the public and media to communicate its mission, values, and accomplishments. Maintains positive relationships with foundation stakeholders, including the board of directors, grantees, community leaders, donors, and prospective donors. Additionally, Foundation Director oversees grantmaking operations, including developing grant guidelines, reviewing grant applications, and managing the grant evaluation process. Manages foundation programs and initiatives that align with the foundation's mission and values. Implements systems for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the foundation's grantmaking and programs. Ensures all foundation activities comply with applicable laws, reporting requirements, and regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Foundation Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Foundation Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. Director of Charitable Strategies

  • Job Summary:

    The Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Charitable Strategies to join our team. This individual will guide donors in developing effective and comprehensive charitable strategies and deepen investment in the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville and its programs. The ideal candidate will have a background in legal or financial planning (graduate degree preferred), with a deep understanding of philanthropy and charitable giving mechanisms. 

    Duties:

    • Stewardship of existing donors: one-on-one donor orientation, meeting with fundholders to determine generosity strategies and philanthropic impact, promote Community Foundation investment opportunities., produce documentation as needed to accomplish objectives
    • New donor cultivation (development): collaborate with the CEO to grow the organizational impact through the creation and implementation of a Fund Development Plan and building relationship with prospective donors and the community at large
    • Community Relations: lead the Corporate Giving Network Planning Team, attend Community Foundation events, make presentations, represent the CEO in meetings as needed, collaborate with CF team (and others) to amplify generosity
    • Other duties including fiscal and legal oversight, grant writing, check approvals, payables etc.

    Requirements:

    - Bachelor's degree required; Juris Doctor (JD) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) preferred
    - At least 5 years of experience in legal or financial services field
    - Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed philanthropic recommendations
    - Excellent communication and presentation skills
