    After a training period, lift operators must be capable of performing these essential job functions and adhering to these procedures :

    Responsible for maintaining an enthusiastic and professional work environment consistent with the policies of Taos Ski Valley, Inc.

    resulting in high employee morale, motivation, and guest satisfaction in an atmosphere of continuous improvement.

    • Able to ride chairlift, uphill and downhill, unassisted to lift stations.
    • Able to clear an MVR background check and drive assigned work vehicles such as pickup trucks, UTVs, or other similar vehicles, on a mountain through adverse road and weather conditions.
    • Ensure the proper opening and closing of the assigned lift(s).
    • Monitor and complete lift area set-up, signage, and cleanliness regularly. Coordinate with the leadership team regarding lift area needs.
    • Clear, clean, and maintain loading and unloading ramps / decks of any liquid or debris throughout the day.
    • Maintain landscaping around the lift area including, but not limited to, gravel work, vegetation / revegetation care, weed removal, trash / litter removal, etc.
    • Place, and / or replace, all required signs, perimeter ropes, evacuation pads, etc.
    • Aid in the completion of daily lift logs.
    • Scan lift tickets of all guests riding chair lifts while driving a positive guest experience.
    • Answer questions and direct guests to the appropriate facilities if needed.
    • Clearly communicate directions and kindly assist our guests as they load / unload the lift and are occasionally able to load / unload children up to 50 pounds.
    • Able to unload mountain bikes weighing up to 40 pounds.
    • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the operation of main and auxiliary drives, service and emergency brakes, control circuits, and telephones for all lifts to which you are assigned.
    • Take direction with a positive can do attitude.
    • Understand and follow all department safety protocols and procedures, while providing a high level of guest service and work ethic.
    • Follow all company policies set forth in the Employee Handbook and the Ski Lift Operations Guide.
    • Contact the designated individuals for answers to questions regarding emergencies, maintenance, and service.
    • Follow all company procedures for mechanical failures, lift evacuation, adverse weather conditions or any other occurrence that may adversely affect the safety of the passengers or lift equipment.
    • Assist in assuring the operation of the lifts in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations of the United States Forest Service, American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), TSV Liability Insurance policy and company policies and procedures.
    • Contribute to a team culture that provides a wonderful guest experience.
    • Materials and equipment directly used include; shovels, hand tools, power tools, ticket scanners, mountain bikes, UTVs, trucks, and heavy machinery (lifts).
    • Reliable attendance on all scheduled workdays.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications / Knowledge :

    • Must be 18 years of age or older.
    • Previous Lift Operations experience is a plus.
    • Language Skills : Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

    Ability to speak effectively before groups of guests. Ability to speak clearly over the radio and phones.

    Reasoning Ability : Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

    Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    • Must be able to function effectively at elevations of 10,000 feet or higher.
    • Must be able to function effectively in inclement weather conditions.

    Taos Ski Valley, Inc. is often a fast-paced work environment, especially during Holiday and Peak days. TSVI is located in a high-altitude alpine environment.

    Position may require travel on uneven terrain and may be exposed to wet, cold, and / or humid conditions. Must be able to work in close quarters and with other staff.
