Fleet Manager manages the acquisition, operations, and maintenance of the organization's fleet of motor vehicles. Oversees scheduling and dispatch operations for vehicles and drivers. Being a Fleet Manager evaluates, purchases, leases, and disposes of vehicles to maintain the fleet. Develops and maintains vendor and service provider relationships for fuel, maintenance, and other essential services. Additionally, Fleet Manager administers insurance policy coverage, negotiates agreements, and participates in claim resolution. Develops and implements safety, preventive maintenance, and accident prevention programs. Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and fleet-specific regulations, licensing, registration, and reporting requirements. Manages the fleet expense reporting and budgets. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Fleet Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Fleet Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Reyes Fleet Management (RFM) is an essential part of Reyes Holdings. RFM services and maintains the fleet of trucks and equipment for the Reyes Family of Businesses. We are one of the largest fleets in the United States, working within our business unit distribution centers across the nation. We partner with our internal customers in the areas of asset management, safety and compliance, and training. Our goal is to assist in the reduction of cost and risk throughout the Reyes Family of Businesses. In addition to our world-class support, we also manage Reyes Academy – a state-of-the-art training facility in Fredericksburg, Virginia that trains 600 professional drivers a year as well as transportation and other operations management.

    Position Summary:  

    The Fleet Safety, Compliance & Environmental Manager acts as an environmental and safety resource for Reyes Fleet Management supporting the Reyes Family of Businesses (“RFOB”), focusing on safety, compliance and the implementation of environmental programs and regulations. This role reports to the Vice President of Field Maintenance and will partner with other support functions within RFOB to implement and manage environmental programs, training, and safety efforts.  This position will support and drive continuous improvement and devise strategies to achieve business objectives.   

     

    Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to: 

    • Partner with Legal and Environmental stakeholders to define transportation regulations and requirements
    • Define both long term strategy and short-term plans to achieve program goals and deliver business results
    • Work with external parties to generate program adoption and ensure a successful implementation
    • Provide clear, precise, and regular communication with all stakeholders for program/product status reports as well as leadership reviews
    • Establish KPIs (key performance indicators), identify gaps, and improve performance and adoption of safety and compliance programs
    • Drive Federal, State, and Local regulatory compliance for all Reyes Family of Businesses equipment
    • Manage and track all hazardous waste manifest and generation within all RFM Shop Operations
    • Direct, monitor and review all safety policies, procedures, to ensure they are up to date with all laws and DOT regulations and meet the guidelines for the company
    • Enforce strict safety standards and create initiatives that will reduce and prevent accidents
    • Coordinate, administer and enforce a robust safety training program that will have a positive impact on safety behaviors
    • Responsible for the success of the safety audits and new best practices
    • Research information on new trends and activities in the Safety and CSA field and report new data to the leadership team
    • Participate on safety committees and assist in the development of safety and health goals and objectives
    • Responsible for evaluating each safety incident and DOT violation and assigning the appropriate discipline for their management to implement and track this activity though completion
    • Other projects or duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    Required Skills and Experience: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, operations, logistics, supply chain, or any related field with 7 years’ experience working in Transportation, Logistics, equipment repair or related industry and 4 years of experience in a management role, or High School Diploma/GED/Tech Schooling Certification with 10 years of experience working in Transportation, Logistics, equipment repair or related industry and 5 years of experience in a management role
    • Valid Driver’s License to operate applicable company vehicles
    • Acceptable motor vehicle record in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations
    • Superior customer relationship management experience
    • Strong and decisive leader with command of the day-to-day operations
    • Must possess established vendor relationships with 3rd party maintenance providers
    • Strong people and project management skills with outstanding interpersonal skills
    • Proven negotiation and influencing abilities, as well as strong analytical skills and command of details
    • Must be self-motivated and self-directed while staying on course with overall company objectives
    • Able to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers at all levels
    • Exhibits strong managerial skills, drive and willingness to "roll up the sleeves" to get the job done
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office
    • Ability and willingness to travel as required (up to 30%)
    • This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test
