Summary of the role:

We are seeking a Senior Accountant who will be Responsible for a variety of accounting activities of the Finance Department.  Applicant may specialize in financial reporting or general accounting.  Performs complex activities requiring knowledge of insurance, company operations, as well as statutory and generally accepted accounting principles. Able to read, analyze and interpret various accounting journals, registers and directives.   Will have a significant role in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing process and financial reporting for all Builders-related companies. This position will report to the Financial Reporting Manager.

What would be your day in the life at Builders?

• Assisting in preparation of quarterly and annual statutory financial statements
• Preparing month-end journal entries including supporting worksheets and account reconciliations
• Handling Variance Analysis
• Assisting in preparation of internal reporting packages
• Working on special projects and/or requests from management

What skills will you need?

• BS/BA degree in Accounting
• 3-5 years’ experience as a Staff Accountant
• Property & Casualty insurance industry experience preferred
• Public accounting experience a plus
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred

• Knowledge of Statutory Accounting preferred
• Experience with Great Plains software preferred
• Experience with The Complete Package preferred
• Will be able to work with individuals at all levels, including internal and external customers
• Possess analytical skills and effectively manage multiple job duties in a fast paced environment
• Attention to detail
• Excellent documentation skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Strong computer skills; good MS Office skills
• Ability to learn new software applications
