Financial Planning and Analysis Director leads the budgeting, forecasting, long-term planning, implementation, and business strategic analysis of the financial team. Conducts financial analysis, modeling, forecasting and reporting efforts to ensure efficient financial operations. Being a Financial Planning and Analysis Director reviews analysis results, develops insightful suggestions for investment, sourcing, cost reduction and leads strategic business decisions. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Financial Planning and Analysis Director typically reports to top management or CFO. The Financial Planning and Analysis Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. Summary Of Position
As part of the UNH Finance – Academic Units team the FP&A will provide expert support for the development and monitoring of operating budgets, strategic planning, and financial management to the Colleges of Liberal Arts, Life Science and Agriculture, Engineering and Physical Science, Health and Human Services, Paul College and the Institute for the Study of Earth, Oceans and Space. The position will work with deans, department chairs, faculty and staff to support financial management needs.
Additional Job Information
Other minimum qualifications- Associate’s degree in a relevant field required
- 2 or more years professional experience in a field related to finance or accounting or combination of education and work experience equal to 2 years of professional experience
- Working knowledge of basic accounting principles, budget planning and monitoring, and financial analysis
- Ability to interact with standard technology platforms (e.g., word processing, data entry, email, internet browsing, etc.)
- Understanding of and proficiency in navigating computerized financial systems
- Ability to interpret and work with financial data, perform calculations and statistical analyses, and draw conclusion
- Ability to read and understand financial statements, written financial policies and regulations, and other relevant documentation
- Excellent mathematical, organizational, and analytical skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and accurately, both verbal and in writing
- Desire to work in a collaborative environment with System and institutional leaders, as well as colleagues in other financial departments
- Openness to 360-degree feedback and desire to learn and grow continuously
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field strongly preferred
- Additional credentials related to accounting or finance strongly preferred
- Experience operating in a shared service setting preferred
- Experience working for a tax-exempt organization preferred
- Knowledge of and/or direct experience with Ellucian Banner systems preferred
- Additional credentials for finance (e.g., Certified Financial Analyst) preferred
