    Your Work Matters How will you make a difference?

    The Financial Counselor is in a free-standing psychiatric hospital offering inpatient and outpatient services to our community. The Financial Counselor is responsible for meeting with our patients and/or guarantors to verify insurance benefits and eligibility of coverage for all admission.  Will be responsible for preparing admission folders, collecting co-pays/deductibles from patients, assisting with establishing effective and timely payment plans. Departmental coordination with our intake and utilization departments to ensure current and accurate data is communicated.  Will work through discharge planning efforts to limit risk of non-payment, providing ongoing patient benefit information for next level of care, and coordinating finalization of financial arrangements.

    • Provide timely follow-up and accurate collection for all self-pay accounts.
    • Review, investigate, and troubleshoot open accounts in order to maximize reimbursement per department protocol.
    • Make sure all patients are covered for services rendered.
    • Check status of all claims sent to insurance companies per Business Office protocols.
    • Complete documentation of all collection activities in accounting system per departmental protocol.
    • Recommend accounts for contractual, administrative, and charity write-offs to Business Office Manager in a timely manner.
    • Identify and escalate issues to Business Office Manager in a timely manner.
    • Complete a variety of clerical projects as assigned.
    • Adhere to facility, department, corporate and standard policies and procedures.
    • Attend all mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities as scheduled.
    • Adhere to facility standards concerning conduct, dress, attendance and punctuality.
    • Support facility-wide quality/performance improvement goals and objectives.
    • Maintain confidentiality of employee and patient information.

    Your Experience Matters What we’re looking for:

    • Education: High school graduate, or equivalent preferred.
    • Experience: A minimum of one (1) year experience in admission processes and collections procedures, and a working knowledge of managed care; interpretation of insurance coverage plans, co-payments and deductible schedules and payment plans; and a working knowledge of computers and business software programs (Excel) preferred.
    • Additional Skill Requirements: May be required to work occasional overtime and flexible hours.

    Compensation:

    This is a full-time role and the starting salary for this role is $25/hr. We’re eager to engage with all qualified candidates, and consideration will be provided to experience and skill level. Join us as our Financial Counselor!
