Finance Director jobs in Florida
Finance Director directs an organization's financial policies, planning, reporting and controls. Oversees all financial functions including accounting, budget, credit, risk, tax, and treasury. Being a Finance Director generally is the second most senior finance executive. Requires a master's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent. Additionally, Finance Director may require the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential. Typically reports to chief financial officer (CFO). The Finance Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Finance Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. Responsibilities
Act as a Strategic Finance Partner: Foster strong partnerships with executive leadership, providing invaluable financial insights and guidance on a regular basis.
Financial Oversight: Take charge of overseeing complex financial functions and processes across multiple business units, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Business Planning Support: Collaborate with various stakeholders to facilitate business planning processes, annual budget development, and strategic decision-making.
Data Accuracy and Timeliness: Ensure the provision of accurate and timely financial data to internal and external stakeholders, supporting informed decision-making and regulatory compliance.
Team Management: Lead and mentor a high-performing team, driving excellence in performance and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Process Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities to enhance internal processes, driving efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation of comprehensive financial reports and analyses to support leadership in strategic planning and performance evaluation.
Strategic Development: Stay abreast of industry trends and market forces, providing valuable insights to inform strategic business decisions.
Relationship Building: Cultivate strong relationships within the organization, the community, and the healthcare sector, championing best practices and fostering collaboration.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies, maintaining the highest standards of integrity and transparency.
Specializations
Strategic and Financial Planning: Lead the development of long-term plans, annual budgets, and forecasts, leveraging data analytics to support decision-making and mitigate risks.
Accounting: Oversee accounting processes, including journal entries, financial system management, and regulatory filings, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards.
Reimbursement: Provide financial oversight in reimbursement activities, including cost reporting, revenue analysis, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Foundation Management: Supervise the financial management of the Foundation, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and facilitating audit activities.
Qualifications
Education/Training: A Master's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field is preferred. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree with substantial work experience will be considered.
Licensure/Certification: CPA certification or equivalent is desirable.
Experience: Minimum of five years of experience in finance management, public accounting, or consulting, with a demonstrated track record of leadership and team management. Proficiency in finance-related IT systems and software is essential.
