SALARY RANGE: $25-30/hr (Negotiable, Depending on Experience!)

As we expand our operations, we are seeking experienced HAZMAT FIELD TECHNICIANS to join our Team in Hastings, MN! If you have a background in Industrial Services/Equipment, Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Hazardous Waste, Emergency Response OR a similar industry – we want to hear from you!

OVERVIEW:

This position is very PHYSICAL in nature as you will be climbing into Vac Trucks and various equipment, cleaning/decontamination in confined spaces, and working with hazardous materials in full HAZMAT gear. You will check-in every morning at our Hastings location prior to being sent to various jobs at client locations across the Twin Cities Metro area.

THIS POSITION REQUIRES OCCASIONAL TRAVEL to emergency events like oil and chemical spills. Most of our emergency events are local here in Minnesota - but there are occasions where you will be sent to a client site in the general Midwest area (ND, SD, IA, WI) and will be compensated accordingly. Typically, emergency events require you to be gone between 1-3 days, but these are more of a rarity. We offer standard OVERTIME pay, Per Diem compensation for out-of-town emergency travel, as well as provide a COMPANY CREDIT CARD for additional necessities!

DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Operate a variety of heavy and light duty trucks/work equipment at our customer sites; some of the vehicles operated include vacuum trucks, Cuscos, guzzlers, and roll offs, etc...

· Engage in strenuous physical labor including lifting and pulling heavy objects in FULL HAZMAT GEAR

· Wear and properly use a variety of personal protective Equipment (PPE). Including respirators, skin, face, hand and foot protection in a multiple number of combinations

· Site-remediation, equipment decontamination, and the handling of hazardous materials

· Work in various temperatures indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions

· Work in atmospheres and locations with the potential for exposure to various chemical and physical agents, some of which may be hazardous, toxic, or corrosive

· Work in potentially elevated noise levels, confined spaces, including lifting in areas of low clearance

· Work at elevations including working from ladders and scaffolding

· Assist in field sampling activities and calibration of meters

· Climb ladders, scaffolding and into and out of trucks, tanks, and various other containers

· Attend all compliance and safety update meetings

· Inspect drums for container integrity and regulatory compliance

· Safe loading and unloading of hazardous and non-hazardous waste

· Conduct waste stream sampling and profiling as necessary

· Follow all local, state (provincial) and federal compliance regulations and rules

· Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state (provincial) and federal requirements

· Safely observe all corporate operating guidelines and procedures

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

· Minimum of a High School Diploma

· Must have a valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation

· This position includes emergency response, a continuing condition of employment is agreeing to available for emergency events that may require you to travel or work Overtime. You will be compensated for this.

· Must successfully complete all pre-employment compliance & background items; including a DOT Drug, DOT Physical, DOT “FIT” Test and have a relatively clean Driving Record.

· Per OSHA's Respiratory Protection standard, 29 CFR 1910.34, employees in positions requiring respirators are required to meet facial hair standards.

· 40 Hour HAZWOPER Training must be completed upon hire (if not already obtained)

There are occasions where projects take longer than 8 hours/day, and due to the nature of our business, there will be occasions where you are called to respond to emergency events that require travel outside the Twin Cities area (IA, WI, ND, SD). You will be compensated accordingly. Please confirm you are able to commit to this schedule with occasional travel.
