    Position Summary
    The Exhibit Projects Manager (ExPM) contributes to Pacific Science Center’s (PacSci) mission to spark curiosity and fuel a passion for discovery, experimentation, and critical thinking by managing new exhibit projects that delight our guests and support a highly interactive, engaging floor experience.
    The ExPM provides exceptional stewardship of exhibit projects through project management and guidance of the exhibit development process. The ExPM is someone who knows exhibits and is deeply familiar with what it takes to bring a project from concept to fruition in a 3D space. They are a detail-oriented creative thinker who has a passion for engaging guests of all learning styles, abilities, and backgrounds. They are guided by curiosity and love experimentation and collaboration. They view each project through multiple lenses, with special attention to the perspectives, stories, and languages of marginalized communities. The ExPM understands that community engagement is fundamental to creating engaging exhibits and seeks out opportunities for collaboration and input, both externally and internally.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities
    Project Management
    • Oversees the development and management of all new exhibit projects, in collaboration with the Senior Manager of Exhibit Design & Operations.
    • Leads exhibit project management until production hand-off: manages exhibit project teams and meetings, which can include internal and external members.
    • Creates and maintains the working schedules for exhibit projects, coordinating with all parties to ensure transparency.
    • Ensures the completion of all aspects of the exhibit are on time and within budget.
    • Supports PacSci’s innovative Science On Wheels exhibit program, and other teams, through exhibit project management and development.
    • Identifies and vets existing exhibit products, interactives, programs, or elements for use in the final exhibits.
    Exhibit Development
    • Provides Exhibit Development guidance (which includes strategy, reviewing materials, etc.); and narrative development, research, and exhibit writing as needed.
    • Organizes and leads content-focused milestone presentations.
    • Coordinates with Marketing and Fundraising teams on exhibits’ communications. Manages the dissemination of exhibit descriptions and fact sheets for internal and external communication.
    Budget Management
    • Budget management: creates and keeps accurate records for all financial transactions and processes all financial paperwork (invoices, credit card receipts, etc.) in a timely and organized manner.
    • Creates and tracks budgets at a project level and ensures all exhibit project team members are working within set project budgets.
    • Manages contracts, including licenses and rights, in support of exhibits projects.
    • Supports exhibits-related cost estimates for projects, grants, and other reporting and budgeting purposes.
    Relationship Management
    • Identifies and manages relationships for partnerships, content advisors, and contractors.
    • Contract management: coordinates with Accounting and Contracts Teams to ensure protocol, supporting sustainable relationships with contractors.
    Other duties as assigned.

    Position Requirements
    • Demonstrated understanding of the exhibit development and design process and what it takes to bring projects from concept to fruition.
    • Project management in a highly-interdependent organizational structure in support of high-quality outcomes and results.
    • Knowledge of current best practices in exhibit development and project management.
    • Understanding of personal bias and a desire to enact anti-racist leadership through exhibit development and project management. This includes but isn’t limited to understanding that exhibits can be a visual representation of culture and being strategic about viewing each project through a multicultural, anti-racist lens.
    • Experience creating communications documents for varying stakeholders, including presentation development and delivery. Written and oral communications are clear and effective with all audiences.
    • Understanding of license and rights management.
    • Medium-level proficiency in Office365 products, including project management tools such as Teams, Sharepoint, and OneDrive. Familiarity with Airtable preferred.
    • Multitasking and prioritizing with sound judgment, including ability to organize around multiple projects with tight schedule and budget constraints. Ability to work in a fast-paced, detail-oriented science center or cultural organization environment.
    • Ability to lead project teams in thinking creatively and solving unstructured problems, engaging with new ideas and diverse viewpoints with an open mind, and improving ideas based on constructive feedback from a diverse team of creative partners and stakeholders. Inspires excellence in others.
    • An understanding of relationship management and community engagement strategies.
    • Models curiosity and critical thinking in a team environment with a mind-set of iterative design and continuous improvement. Contributes to a culture that is collaborative, creative, joyful, and fun.
    Qualifications
    Required
    • At least five years of experience managing exhibit projects-- teams and complex projects--with demonstrated ability to deliver work on time and on budget, preferably supporting informal learning experiences for museums, zoos, science centers, or similar environments.
    • At least two years people management experience.
    Preferred
    • At least three years of exhibit development experience.
    • Museum and/or experience with hands-on interactive development (mechanical and/or digital).
    This position description generally describes the principal functions of the position and the level of knowledge and skills typically required.     Compensation
    Pay is based on several factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and years of experience.
    Starting Base Salary Range: $74,000-$84,000 per year
    In addition to base salary, regular employees working 40 hrs/week can expect the following benefits:
