    As a Safety and Occupational Health Manager, you will:

    • Provide input in the development of the Region's safety policy and participates with the Regional Safety and Occupational Health Manager, managers, and supervisors in formulation of Regional safety policy.
    • Develop, schedule and/or present safety training programs for Federal and contract employees.
    • Review contract plans and specifications, ensuring required safety features are incorporated, and provide guidance, if such features are needed.
    • Review procurement and equipment specifications for equipment, tools, materials, and supplies for compliance with safety regulations.

    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level [GS-12] in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting ALL the following:

    • Experience implementing a safety program and leading a team of safety professionals.
    • Experience applying knowledge of safety and health standards, laws, codes, and policies for employees engaged in a broad range of high-hazard functions in the construction of high-voltage power systems.
    • Experience communicating safety practices to craft employees, contractors, and management officials to ensure measures are in place for the safe construction of high-voltage power systems.
    • Ability to read and evaluate preliminary engineering reports and related design drawings and specifications on all aspects of proposed construction projects, repair, and maintenance.
    "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
