Energy Engineer – Portland, OR 

We are seeking an experienced energy engineer to provide support for commercial and industrial strategic energy management (SEM) programs and other energy efficiency programs in our Portland office. The position will focus on energy efficiency programs and strategies to save energy in buildings. The ideal candidate will have professional experience in the energy field. 

Title: Engineer 

Status: Full Time, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday 

Location: Portland, OR 

Reports to: Program manager

Position Description: 

• Prepare written analysis of findings and recommendations for energy efficiency, demand response, and self-generation measures for submittal to clients. 
• Conduct site inspections and/or gather data needed to perform energy-related analyses of sites or equipment including capital, operations & maintenance (O&M), and behavioral opportunities.  
• Utilize analytical tools and measurement and verification (M&V) methodologies to evaluate the performance of energy systems and equipment. 
• Review energy savings calculations per program rules. 
• Interact closely with project managers and clients to meet project deadlines and budgets. 

Ideal Qualifications: 

• Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical or Energy Systems. 
• Five years of relevant industry experience. 
• Basic understanding of demand side management, supply side management, permanent load shifting, and demand response. 
• Basic understanding of statistics, linear regression modeling, and measure-based energy analysis tools. 
• Working knowledge of HVAC, lighting, motors, and/or other custom commercial and industrial equipment.  
• Ability to interpret and understand mechanical and electrical drawings as well as equipment nameplate data and manufacturer specifications. 
• Ability to apply basic thermodynamic concepts such as system efficiency and conservation of energy. 
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
• Ability to write routine technical reports and other professional correspondence. 
• Proficient PC skills including Excel, Word, and Outlook. 
• Must have reliable transportation, this position may require travel to customer sites.
