    Job Summary:

    The Dispatch Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of the dispatch department, ensuring timely and accurate scheduling and coordination of resources to meet customer demands. This role involves managing a team of dispatchers, implementing processes and systems to optimize operations, and maintaining effective communication with drivers and customers.

    Responsibilities:

    • Supervise Dispatch Operations
    • Lead and manage a team of dispatchers, providing guidance, training, and support as needed
    • Oversee day-to-day dispatch activities, including scheduling, routing, and assigning drivers to routes
    • Monitor dispatch performance metrics and implement strategies to improve efficiency and productivity
    • Schedule and Coordinate Deliveries:
    • Coordinate with drivers, vehicles, and equipment to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods or services
    • Develop and maintain efficient routing plans to optimize delivery routes and minimize transit times and costs
    • Communicate with customers to confirm delivery schedules and address any concerns or special requirements
    • Manage Communication:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers, providing instructions, updates, and support throughout their shifts
    • Maintain effective communication channels with drivers, customers, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth operations
    • Handle inquiries, complaints, and issues from customers or drivers, resolving them promptly and professionally
    • Ensure Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations in dispatch operations
    • Monitor driver compliance with hours-of-service regulations and other legal requirements, taking corrective action as needed
    • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to dispatch activities, including driver logs, delivery schedules, and customer orders
    • Optimize Processes:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to streamline dispatch operations
    • Evaluate and recommend software systems or technology solutions to enhance dispatch efficiency and accuracy
    • Collaborate with other departments, such as logistics, customer service, and fleet management, to optimize overall operations
    • Implements and leverages dispatch technologies
    • Identifies and implements technologies that provides visibility, tracking and efficient processing of internal and 3rd party dispatch activities

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field. Relevant experience may substitute for education
    • Proven experience in dispatch operations, logistics, or transportation management, with at least [X] years in a supervisory or managerial role
    • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team
    • Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with a focus on prioritization and problem-solving
    • Proficiency in dispatch software and systems, such as transportation management systems (TMS) or fleet management software
    • Knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance requirements, including hours-of-service rules
    • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with drivers, customers, and internal stakeholders
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
    • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and metrics to drive informed decision-making
    • Flexibility to work non-standard hours and respond to emergencies or operational issues as needed
