    What does it mean to be a Director, Human Resources – Employee Relations at GLS?

    The Director, Human Resources – Employee Relations will be responsible for strategic planning and execution of human capital management programs and processes to optimize business operations including employee relations, performance management, talent development and related organizational initiatives.  The position includes leading a team of professional Human Resources Consultants.

    How will you drive value within the organization as a Director, Human Resources – Employee Relations?
    • In partnership with senior leadership, develop and execute strategic plans for key “people” initiatives that enhance business outcomes through engaged employees and connected leaders
    • Using performance data from organizational units, deliver core HR processes for managing performance, developing talent, building thoughtful career pathing, and deeply engaging individuals and teams
    • Monitor and drive enhancements of key HR programs such as on-boarding, performance management and employee relations; develop and implement new processes as necessary
    • Provide guidance in the application of processes and policies to ensure consistent management of employee performance across the organization.
    • Conduct thorough and objective employee relations investigations as necessary; establish and implement proper steps for corrective action(s)
    • Manage any legal and/or regulatory inquiry of employment related matters
    • Coach business leaders on key areas such as leadership, teamwork, strategy, etc.
    • Collaborate with HR partners in support of the overall organization to design and deliver on key strategic projects: provide feedback, input, and change management considerations to ensure that end products are relevant, applicable and achieve desired end results
    • Manage day-to-day operations for HR Consultancy group, including oversight of all administrative activities related to HRC processes; maintain a balanced workload and optimize team output, delivering on a commitment to provide top quality information, service, and support


    What should you already know to be successful as a Director, Human Resources – Employee Relations?
    • Minimum of bachelor’s degree required. SHRM-SCP/CP or SHPR/PHR preferred
    • Minimum of eight (8) years’ progressive experience in human resource consultancy spectrum including employee relations, performance management, talent development and employment related legal/compliance activities 
    • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and lead teams in exceptional tactical delivery
    • Extraordinary consulting, client management and business literacy skills with demonstrated understanding of corporate and business unit challenges
    • Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple conflicting priorities
    • Intrinsically motivated with demonstrated ability to take initiative, identify needs, make recommendations for improvement, see recommendations through implementation, and evaluate improvements for effectiveness 
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills: friendly and tactful with the ability to influence others, effectively manage conflict, exercise sound judgment, effectively manage highly sensitive and confidential information, and interact at all levels within the organization
    • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
    • Proficient computer skills with working knowledge of internet and standard business applications such as Microsoft Office; Ability to quickly learn new computer applications as required 
    • Demonstrated proficiency in organizing resources, establishing priorities, and driving results
    • Commitment to exemplifying the organizational core values and key competencies 


    Employment Requirements:
    • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
    • The position may require limited travel of less than 10% of the time
    • While performing the essential duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to:
    • Remain in a stationary position 50% of the workday
    • Constantly operate a computer and other standard office equipment 
    • Talk and hear to exchange accurate information
    • Have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading
