  • Duties

    • You will serve as an electrical engineering technician for real property maintenance to support the basic repair requirements of the buildings and structures for facilities and its outlying fields.
    • You will provide electrical system engineering technician services and review designs at the technician level, on a multitude of electrical systems aboard.
    • You will perform customer liaison duties, identify scope, prepare contract specifications, government estimates, shop job preparation, and material identification and services procurement as required to support the mission requirements.
    • You will provide technical assistance to maintenance personnel when service ticket response indicates additional clarification and evaluation is necessary to complete the maintenance requirement.
    • You will work with contacts to review design documents, evaluate proposals, and provide input on construction work for projects executed through various project programs.
    • You will utilize and maintain a current system of cost data, and cost trend information to provide sound data for estimating the cost of labor and material.
    • You will participate on applicable advisory boards and will represent the department as required to support the associated plans, goals, and objectives.

    • This position is essential and therefore required to work during inclement weather (e.g. ice and snow, high winds, and hurricanes) unless directed by the supervisor.

    Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-08) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Analyze conventional projects involving designs, maintenance, and repair to identify necessary standard engineering practices; develop electrical plans to define labor and material cost estimates, scope of work, statements of objectives for construction and maintenance projects; Identify electrical problems and trends to recommend improvements to construction projects and maintenance operations; and coordinate with contractors and government agencies to accomplish varied construction projects.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

    This position requires in the event of an emergency situation occurs during shift rotation, the employee reporting for the next shift is required to report for duty unless other wise advised by his/her supervisor and the employee at work stays until he/she is relieved by shift replacement or approved by supervisor to leave.

    • I have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree OR
    • I have successfully completed two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree OR
    • I have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent

A significant portion of the work is accomplished outdoors in all types of weather. Electrical shock hazard is present on some assignments. Visits to airfield and adjacent areas require appropriate precautions, including hearing protection. Infrequent work may be required within permit required confined spaces for inspection and repair evaluation purposes. The employee shall observe all appropriate safety precautions.
