Account Manager, Editorial Sales

  • The Account Manager, Editorial Sales position calls for a passionate, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and disciplined professional to join Shutterstock's Editorial Sales Team. Focusing exclusively on our Editorial product, this team's goal will be to maximize the opportunity within our global medium and large customer base.

    A successful Account Manager, Editorial Sales will be very familiar with the editorial & media space and will have a great eye for identifying newsworthy images, stories, and be seasoned at negotiating exclusive licenses within the candid entertainment space. They will also have a passion for, and be accustomed to working in a "newsroom" type atmosphere, following what is happening in the world of Pop Culture, Entertainment, Fashion, News and Sports around the world.

    This role will be primarily externally focused, working closely with both our clients and contributors on a daily basis.

    The role will be responsible for curating and pushing live, relevant content to our clients. The Account Manager, Live Editorial Sales will be an editorial content ambassador to help all sales teams with driving editorial revenue.

    This role will have non-standard working hours of 12pm-8pm or 1pm-9pm Pacific and is expected to come into the Los Angeles office 1-2 times per week.

    The Day to Day:

    • Daily curation and proactive push of live feed globally to all our media customers, reseller partners, and Corporate and/or Agency customers when relevant.

    • Collaboration within team to garner highest possible rate for incoming candid content, especially premium exclusives

    • On-call for coverage of any breaking news events

    • Coverage for global teammates by pitching content globally or to the relevant markets if newsworthy content or breaking news stories arises outside of teammate's time zone

    • Coverage during live events, including curation of incoming content for proactive push to relevant clients.

    • Curation of images packaged up to pitch to clients as potential news ideas or in relevance to current news topics.

    • Collaboration with Business Operations and Product/Tech to raise any improvement ideas on how the platform or any processes can be improved or changed.

    • Consistent follow-up via phone to all recipients of curated sets.

    • Contribute to the usage tracking by capturing any placement seen in any publications or social media channels.

    • Sustain interest in global entertainment events, news, trends, fashion, and celebrities.

    • Develop, build and maintain relationships with clients and contributors by providing thorough customer service.

    • Maintain a full understanding of the global client base, expected deadlines, and image preferences.

    • Some traveling may be required.

    • Depending on team coverage needs it is expected for this role to work some weekends and/or holidays

    What You'll Bring to the Role:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Business, or a related field.

    • 5 years of experience in editorial/media setting and/or photo agency experience

    • Experience with editorial content curation, including identifying newsworthy images and stories.

    • Proven track record in negotiation and securing exclusive content licenses, especially within the entertainment and media sectors.

    • Familiarity with newsroom environments and a strong understanding of the workflows and demands of media organizations.

    • Proficiency in CRM and sales enablement tools, with a strong understanding of sales processes and customer engagement tactics.

    • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, capable of engaging with senior-level executives and decision-makers.

    • Proactive, with a strong sense of initiative and the ability to anticipate client needs and present solutions.

The compensation package offered may vary depending on employment experience, skills, and knowledge. Compensation ranges for candidates in locations outside of the location(s) below may differ based on the cost of labor, market, and additional factors.

    The pay range for this position is below:

    * 115,000 - 135,000 per year in California

    Note: Commission-eligible roles are expressed as on-target earnings (base and commission). Non-commission roles are expressed as base salary only but are also eligible for annual incentives.
