EAP Counselor coordinates and implements an organization's Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Serves as a knowledgeable resource for employees seeking information and guidance on mental health and wellness topics. Being an EAP Counselor conducts confidential assessments to determine the needs of employees seeking assistance. Provides short-term counseling and support services to employees and provides referrals to external resources when necessary. Additionally, EAP Counselor maintains accurate and confidential records of EAP services provided, ensuring compliance with privacy laws and regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The EAP Counselor occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Dakota Psychological Services is seeking a dedicated and experienced counselor to join our team in providing top-quality mental health services.
Job Responsibilities- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to clients with adult males under the supervision of the Department of Corrections or Probation.
- Conduct pre-release assessments on clients being released on parole.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in accordance with ethical and legal standards.
- Participate in weekly case staffing.
- Stay current on the latest research and best practices in the field of mental health counseling through ongoing professional development.
- A master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Licensure as a counselor (LPC, LMHC, LCSW, or equivalent) in the state of South Dakota.
- Strong clinical skills and knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with clients and work effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and standards of practice.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a positive attitude when faced with challenges or changes in the work environment.
- Experience working within the prison or with adults and juveniles involved in the criminal justice system is a bonus but not required.
