    Job Summary:

    The Brokerage Manager at DRT oversees and optimizes our carrier operations. This position manages a team of Logistic Coordinators, ensuring effective and efficient freight movement while maintaining solid relationships with carriers. The ideal candidate will thoroughly understand freight management, particularly in the 3PL and Freight Broker industry. This role requires a combination of leadership, strategic thinking, and hands-on management to drive performance and achieve company goals.

    In this role, you will lead and collaborate, guiding the team in day-to-day operations while working closely with other departments to ensure seamless logistics solutions. Your primary focus will be to enhance customer service, optimize transit times, reduce transportation costs, and foster long-term relationships with carriers. You will be expected to provide strategic direction, develop carrier networks, and implement process improvements that drive operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

    Let’s look at what you will be doing:

    • Leadership and Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Logistic Coordinators. Provide ongoing training and development to enhance their skills and performance. Conduct regular performance evaluations and one-on-one meetings to ensure continuous improvement.
    • Operational Oversight: Oversee the daily operations of the carrier sales team, including load booking, sourcing capacity, and managing freight movements. Ensure that all service expectations and profitability goals are met.
    • Carrier Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with carriers. Negotiate rates and ensure the carrier network is robust and reliable.
    • Problem Resolution: Address carrier-related issues such as OS&D (Over, Short, and Damaged), claims, accessorials, and other operational challenges. Work cross-functionally to implement practical solutions.
    • Strategic Planning: Identify opportunities for process improvements and technology enhancements to increase efficiency. Provide insights and feedback on quoting opportunities, RFPs, and market fluctuations.
    • Collaboration and Communication: Meet customer service expectations and achieve company objectives. Maintain clear and effective communication with internal teams and carriers.
    • Recruitment and Retention: Participate in the hiring process and retention strategies for Logistic Coordinators. Ensure the team is staffed with talented individuals contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
    • Customer Service Excellence: Improve customer service, transit times, and transportation costs. Ensure that the team goes above and beyond to meet the needs of carriers and customers.

    • 3 years of experience in the freight industry or brokerage.
    • Minimum of 2 years of team leadership or management experience.
    • Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
