Cytotechnologist jobs in Missouri
Cytotechnologist examines cells of the cytoplasm and nucleus to determine pathological conditions. Separates sediment and cells from blood serum and categorizes slides and records classification. Being a Cytotechnologist receives and prepares specimens for analysis. Detects abnormalities and communicates to pathologist to arrive at a final diagnosis and report. Additionally, Cytotechnologist requires a bachelor's degree. Requires graduation from an approved school of cytotechnology and American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or I.C.A. registration. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Cytotechnologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Overview:
The Cytotechnologist discriminates between the abnormal and normal cells through an in-depth knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of cells, tissues and organ systems to interpret cell morphology and render diagnostic decisions.

Qualifications:
- Education: B.S. degree and graduation from an accredited school of cytotechnology.
- Licensure: ASCP certified or eligible.
- Other skills & knowledge (skills, knowledge, abilities): Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements: Physical demands are attached plus push, pull, and grip up to 25 lbs., pinch up to 10 lbs., kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally.
- Equipment Used: Standard cytology equipment and instrumentation.
