Curriculum Specialist designs and develops training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for various audiences, including employees, managers, customers, or other learners. Conducts skill assessments and collects input to identify training or development needs, goals, gaps, and requirements. Being a Curriculum Specialist consults with subject matter experts to define learning objectives and to design appropriate course content and training curriculum. Develops curricula supporting defined competency models or skill frameworks. Additionally, Curriculum Specialist writes and edits outlines, syllabus, lecture notes, and materials for in-person or online courses and self-study programs. Evaluates the software or collaboration tools to be selected for training. Establishes metrics to use to evaluate training effectiveness. May collaborate with vendors that provide training materials or conduct training. May coach trainers. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Curriculum Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     Job Purpose

    In keeping with a tradition of excellence, this position is responsible for the development, implementation, training, evaluation, and compliance of all Pre-Kindergarten Programs (including the Early Learning Collaborative (ELC) and Title) in Rankin County School District. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     Duties And Responsibilities

    • Build relationships with various private and public stakeholders to ensure that all programs meet the expectations of the individuals they serve
    • Ensure that the Early Learning Collaborative, Title Pre-K, and all Pre-K programs in the Rankin County School District are compliant with all federal, Mississippi Department of Education, and Rankin County School District requirements
    • Establish and maintain an ongoing “working” relationship between local Head Starts to ensure compliance with Early Learning Collaborative guidelines.
    • Establish and maintain relationships with local childcare providers, and administrators.
    • Oversee Pre-Kindergarten registration, screening, selection, communication, and advertisement based on district established guidelines and procedures
    • Coordination of bus harness/seat fitting for Pre-Kindergarten students with the district transportation and zone transportation directors
    • Ensure compliance with the Pre-Kindergarten curriculum, organize professional development and ensure compliance of Pre-Kindergarten professional development requirements for Pre-Kindergarten staff and administrators, and provide support in lesson planning that meets the rigor of the MS Early Learning Standards and RCSD expectations
    • Serve as point of contact for all communication with the MS Department of Education as it pertains to Pre-Kindergarten
    • Work with building level principals to help ensure instructional practices and instructional materials are being utilized to insure implementation of current trends and best practices in the Pre-K classroom
    • Work with local businesses and Chambers of Commerce to fundraise for sustainability of the Pre-K programs
    • Monthly reporting to Mississippi Department of Education regarding ELC Pre-Kindergarten, Title Pre-Kindergarten, and all Pre-Kindergarten programs
    • Procurement of all Pre-Kindergarten assets and supplies
    • Maintain and accept responsibility for any district owned fixed asset item(s) assigned to employee and ensure appropriate use by following district policies for acceptable use
    • Undergo periodic evaluations according to state and board policy procedures
    • Maintain confidentiality
    • Regular, in person, dependable attendance is an essential function of this position
    • Perform such other and not specifically enumerated duties as may be requested by the Board of Education, superintendent, administrator, director or established by district policy
    • Read, understand, and abide by Employee Conduct Policy, GAB, all other District, State and Federal policies, and procedures and protocols as established by RCSD and the Mississippi Educator Code of Conduct

    Qualifications

    • Education Level: Master’s degree or higher in administration
    • Certification/Endorsements: Valid Mississippi Educator License with the following endorsements: 486 or other applicable administrative endorsement required, 153 Child Development (preferred), and 116, 120, or 152 Elementary Education endorsement required
