Job Goal:
To monitor the development and implementation of instruction for the assigned content area by delivering direct support to teachers. May administer support for other specific instruction programs as assigned.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provides direct, hands-on support to teachers and other school-based staff to ensure effective implementation of curriculum and instruction within the assigned content area, consistent with district vision, policies, and goals and in alignment with applicable state and national standards.
- Mentors assigned teachers and provides consultative services to schools through collaborative planning, coaching sessions, demonstration lessons, and modeling best practices to facilitate continuous improvement and promote a strong instructional program that meets students' varying learning styles and needs.
- Facilitates the collaborative interaction of school staff, parents, and students to promote effective instructional practices and student achievement of rigorous curriculum in the specified content area.
- Encourages communication among teachers and instructional staff within the same content area to share ideas, develop effective solutions and innovative concepts, and create a common goal of continuous improvement.
- Conducts non-evaluative observation of teachers, identifies areas in which additional training and professional development are needed, and provides specific guidance and feedback to address existing or potential issues and refine knowledge and skills.
- Communicates with school administrators to provide feedback and input regarding the implementation of curriculum, instruction, and assessments in the assigned content area and to make suggestions and recommendations for potential improvement opportunities.
- Demonstrates appropriate use of technology and other instructional tools and resources to enhance instruction and support effective implementation of the assigned content area.
- Participates as appropriate in the development of curriculum, teaching strategies, course of study, and assessments relevant to the delivery of viable instructional programs for the assigned content area.
- Works collaboratively with Academic Supervisors, school administrators, teachers, and other staff to create quarterly common assessments aligned to the pacing guide.
- Assists in the study, evaluation, and selection of available resources, textbooks, equipment, and materials to support instructional programs and services within the assigned content area.
- Compiles and reviews program data to ensure goal alignment and identify areas of need; reviews findings with the Academic Supervisor and suggests modifications to make improvements as appropriate.
- Plans and/or delivers professional development activities for teachers and other school-based staff throughout the school year and during the summer; researches available professional learning resources and makes recommendations for possible inclusion.
- Prepares a variety of communications, reports, presentations, etc. and maintains up-to-date records for the purpose of recording activities and providing reliable information as required and/or requested.
- Assists in coordinating various special projects, events, fairs, exhibitions, etc. as requested.
- Acts as a representative for the school district within the community to increase public awareness for school programs and seek support for district initiatives.
- Maintains research-based knowledge in state, national, and global educational developments and techniques; reviews field appropriate literature and research studies and reports to support and disseminate instructional best practices in a specified content that develop content knowledge and skills, critical and creative thinking, and academic success.

Qualifications (minimum education, licensure, and/or experience):
- Degree in Education from an accredited college or university (Master's preferred)
- State-recognized teaching certification
- Minimum of seven (7) years of teaching experience
- Must have demonstrated expertise in assigned content area
- Must have previously demonstrated leadership ability
- Award or recognition for achievement as an educator preferred (e.g., Milken Educator Award, Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST), Teacher of the Year, etc.)
- National Board Certification preferred
