We are currently seeking individuals for a Part-time Criminal Defense Investigator position. The criminal defense investigator collects evidence for a defense attorney to use when they represent their client with criminal or post-conviction matters. Your duties may include interviewing witnesses, collecting background information, obtaining signed sworn statements, and checking the facts in police reports regarding the crime.

Your responsibilities often include testifying about your investigation at the trial or hearing. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of complex, multi-tasked investigative experience. A strong work ethic, self-motivated, and good communication skills. In addition, the candidate must be able to work independently and have strong problem-solving and time-management skills. Flexible hours are a must, including early mornings, weekdays, weekends, and evening hours. Criminal Justice Degree is preferred. Candidates MUST have the following:

• Previous investigative experience in Criminal Defense, or related fields.
• Minimum Educational Requirement: Associates Degree or equivalent Criminal Justice Degree/ Certificate preferred
• Be proficient in using Word and have the ability to write detailed reports.
• Cases are assigned on a Per Diem basis.
• Ability and willingness to travel as necessary.
• A reliable vehicle.
• Appropriate driving record/ history.
• Submit and Pass a Criminal background check.
• A cell phone; to be in contact with a case manager.
• Pass all Connecticut State requirements to be employed under a licensed Private Investigation firm.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.50 - $27.50 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
