  • The Credit and Collections Specialist is responsible for the maintenance and collection of accounts receivable for all assigned customer accounts and for obtaining and analyzing credit information for purposes of recommending credit decisions to A/R management. This position will work with and support both internal and external customers.

    Essential Functions

    • Timely and efficient collections of the company's accounts receivables.
    • The approval of new orders on customer accounts.
    • Provide good customer service through dispute resolution.
    • Provide support to the credit team by assisting with credit report updates.
    • Review new credit applications and verify credit references
    • On a daily basis, this candidate will review regularly the status of collections to ensure accounts receivable are meeting the company goals for DBT (Days beyond terms), % Current, and % Over 90.
    • Discusses delinquent accounts with the sales team and credit manager as needed.
    • Act as an intermediary between sales and customers to help resolve disputes, resulting from but not limited to, pricing, invoicing errors, and credit memos.
    • Reviews orders on credit hold.
    • Prepares and sends AR past due notices.
    • Makes phone calls to collect/resolve past due balances and logs all activity in individual customer files and accounts.
    • Submits accurate bad debt listings and explanations of large past-due customers to the credit manager and any other reporting required to meet company requirements.

    Experience And Position Requirements

    • Minimum of 1-3 years of collections or credit work experience
    • Good verbal and written communication skills; able to effectively present data to help payment issues
    • Strong organizational and time management skills; detail and action-oriented
    • Proficient with Excel
    • Attention to detail and ability to analyze data
    • Ability to handle a large volume of calls and multi-task
    • Must be able to work in a team environment

    Supervisory Responsibility

    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Work Environment

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., for a total of 40 hours per week.

    Travel

    No travel is expected for this position.
