Correctional Officer enforces rules and regulations in a prison, jail or other holding facility. Presides over prisoners awaiting trial or those who have been convicted of a crime. Being a Correctional Officer oversees prisoner conduct and safety. Supervises prisoners during meals, recreation, work and other daily activities. Additionally, Correctional Officer documents violations and takes appropriate disciplinary actions. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Correctional Officer possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Overview:
We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Correctional Officers. As a Correctional Officer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining safety and security within the Ashland County Jail.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and monitor inmates within the facility
- Enforce rules and policies to ensure order and discipline
- Conduct regular cell inspections
- Respond to emergencies and incidents
- Escort inmates to various locations
- Document all activities, incidents, and observations accurately
Requirements:
- Ability to learn CCTV monitoring systems
- Certificate in Law Enforcement or related field is a plus
- Proficiency in conflict management techniques
- Strong report writing skills for documentation purposes
- Ability to pass and administer medication
Training will be provided in all above listed areas.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid Drivers License
- No felony convictions
- Must pass drug screen, pre-employment physical, and criminal background check
- Availability to work weekends and holidays
Scheduling:
Full time employees will work 12 hour shifts. Work schedule will reflect 7 days scheduled in a two week pay period to include a 3 day weekend off biweekly.
Pay:
Initial pay during the three month training period is $19.87/hour. Upon field training completion, wage is $24.84/ hour
