Overview
Project a friendly and professional attitude while aiding all members and potential members with their financial needs. Actively sell and cross-sell credit union products and services through telephone and electronic contact within the guidelines of the Lender Development program. Using an enthusiastic approach, the Lending Specialist will introduce and cross-sell to new members and current members all of the credit union services by interviewing applicants applying for consumer loans, providing loan status, explaining credit union policies, and by educating the member through the lending process. Be knowledgeable of all products and services the credit union offers and provide the member with the necessary information to make an informed financial decision.Job Skills / Requirements
- Take inbound and make outbound calls to discuss loan products available to determine how the credit union can meet members’ financial needs. Interview member and prepare completed loan application for further consideration by loan underwriting. Responsible for complete and accurate application data entry. Act as a member advocate by educating them on the lending process.
- Proactively promote and sell lending products offered by the credit union including GAP, MBP and Credit Life/Credit Disability Protection offered by the CUNA Mutual Lender Development Program to credit union members.
- Consistently follow up on applications to ensure credit union maximizes opportunities. Aggressively follow up on all consumer lending opportunities including but not limited to web applications, referrals from other staff members, and call list.
- Proactively promote and sell other credit union products including but not limited to checking accounts, online banking, direct deposit, and other account services.
Experience: Three to five years of similar or related experience.Education: A high school education or equivalent.Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust, diplomacy and professionalism is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.Other Skills: Ability to prioritize work flow. Ability to learn new things in a relatively short amount of time. Initiative and ability to handle numerous assignments concurrently. Must have basic understanding of operating a computer. Ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. Ability to navigate the internet, use a 10 key calculator and computer keyboard by touch. Attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy.
