Being a Conservation Technician may require an associate's degree or its equivalent and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Conservation Technician relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. White Oak conserves and sustains some of the earth's rarest wild animals through innovative training, research, education, and conservation breeding programs that contribute to the survival of wildlife in nature. The conservation programs span 600 acres along the St. Mary’s River in northeast Florida, surrounded by 17,000 acres of mixed forest and wetlands that make up the beautiful White Oak property. Founded in 1982, White Oak leads professional efforts to improve veterinary care, develop holistic animal management techniques, and better understand the biology of critically endangered species by providing excellent care and managing conservation programs for over 30 species of imperiled wildlife in large, naturalistic habitats.
Position Purpose: To maintain, repair, and install all mechanical assets at White Oak both interior and exterior. This includes electrical and plumbing with some HVAC skills.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
This position requires five years’ experience in commercial and residential plumbing and electrical maintenance, repairs, and installation with some HVAC skills helpful. Valid driver’s license required
Certificates of competency (journeyman cards) in electrical and plumbing a plus but not required.
Special Working Conditions
Working conditions include working in inclement weather, extreme temperatures (attics), noise, hazardous materials, able to work using ladders and man lifts, and carry heavy objects.
This is an hourly position which requires weekend rotating coverage and may require occasional after hour service work.
